This is the area of concern. An area of rain stuck between 2 fronts. Just going to keep marching NE all night and in to tomorrow. A river in the sky.

If that arrow is accurate it'll miss the proper north, we could do with a break.

Rain animation for last 24 hours. 2nd half of the video you can see the stream of rain form and constantly hit S Wales and NW England

https://twitter.com/Netweather/status/122896256409...

You can also see the small feature that's caused the amber in southern counties. Word is flooding is bad at the bottom of our hill. Fine up here, of course.

It has suddenly gone absolutely bananas here near Milton Keynes, huge gusts of window and heavy rain.
Another squall line. Sound from outside ere wasn't dissimilar to youtube videos filmed in hurricanes!

Lots of flooding on the lanes south of Reading.
Yep - Kennet almost at record levels, it was worse in 2011/2012 (can't remember exactly when).

Trying to drive from Burghfield to Pangbourne - looks like it's the long, long way round! Every crossing near us is under a lot of water. Lots of broken cars.

Putting flooding aside for a second, is it going to get cold this winter at all?

It’s been ridiculously mild!
This is helping to drive the current weather. Cold has remained locked up around the pole, it's been pretty warm at our latitude. When they rub together they help drive the jetstream which helps develop low pressure.

Here are the levels at our current station.

https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/s...

Comparing what is to come, to the levels on Sunday and the pictures of Bewdley, doesn’t look great.

The EA have put finally put barriers in at Beales corner and pumped out all the water though.

Shame they didn’t put the barriers up before the widely known about and anticipated storm, as they have multiple times previously
Our local station has been out of operation all winter. After the December floods the EA said they'd fix it. Still waiting, and unable to take any cross over the Kennet nearby.

Down in Devon for half term. Mostly an indoors week irked

Although we did have a long enough dry spell to bbq some steak and sausages, before it absolutely belted down again.

Unsettled all week as low pressure passes to our north. Plenty more rain to come.

Waters have receded in West Berks - most roads open smile

A tornado watch has been issued for tomorrow. A particularly large difference in temperature along a cold front will lead to a severe squall line, low chance of tornado...

Squall line has formed from Exeter to Bristol.

We're in Axminster, so in the firing line!

Lovely morning in West Berks. Beginning to feel like spring. Greyed over later, and I'm aware conditions are awful up north.

Cool period next week. NI, Scotland, far north of England could easily see snow.

Further chances for rest of us later in week. No keen cold spell, but better than anything else.
