Would love some cats and dogs style rain at the moment , 0.3mm total in May , and we're starting to burn up .

Did the wind change direction or something?

Forecast up until last night was for storms and bursts of heavy rain here in Lincolnshire. Had nothing through the night and now the forecast has changed to a lot less chance of rain.

Not that I'm complaining. smile

Met office got it wrong. All the small time forecasters said Sussex/Kent/Essex, hence my post on Monday.

Met office blew it well out of proportion...

Apart from what sounded like a 1am downpour, north Essex didn't get much either.

NE Essex did - this storm formed just SW of Colchester and moved up in to Suffolk:

(amazing pics for a UK storm).

Small but increasing chances of a Spanish plume towards end of next week. Potential for temps in to the 30s *IF* it happens.

As usual, short term and humid/muggy - thunder a real possibility too. As usual, the plume may hit other parts of Europe instead.

Got about an hour's worth of thunder and lightening here in Kent overnight. It was nice watching it.

Some meat on the bones of my earlier heat warning - but as before, this is 8 days away, so in the unreliable timeframe:

Low pressure stalling to our SW allows the winds to align and drag up Saharan heat:

Oh nose, not one of those pesky Spanish plumes, that'll ruin the best summer ever.

Last night and today not a single sausage of lightning but plenty of cool refreshing lovely rain.

Good point.

I suppose a day or two of heat could be endured if it ends with a bang!

As long as we don't get the endless horror show that was lat summer, i'll be happy.

Come back last summer, all is forgiven.

The lawn was already dead by this time last year. Didn't need mowing for 4 months. Now it's thriving. The little green sprouty bawbags.

Couldn't believe the difference in the woods today compared to Monday. Growth of grass and ferns is incredible.

As a self employed gardener I'm loving all this rain - non stop mowing = ££££'s.

Last summer, not so good! If it does warm up next week with heavy downpours my phone will be ringing off the hook smile

Took the top off the grass in anticipation this morning , rain started at 2pm then it turned into thunder snow so everything's white and icy banghead
