IMHO this is largely guesswork and becomes boring incredibly quickly.
I disagree.

There are some letters that are far more used than others in the English language, so starting with a word such as tears or spark is more likely to give you letters from your first guess, but also really narrows the options down for you if don't. Picking a word like gobby, on the other hand, has fewer common letters, and also a double letter, which greatly reduces your options.

Once you've got a letter or two in place, it also becomes rapidly apparent what letters simply cannot fit in certain places, thus narrowing your options further.

The really infuriating ones, I'll grant you, are when you get to something like "_ARTS" on your first guess, and you can see that warts, parts, darts, farts, carts, tarts and marts mean that there are too many options for you to get it right without a guess!

In 4, I quickly got the middle 3 letters but that still left lots of choice.

On Wordle after the usual AUDIO for row 1 I put BREAD for row 2, I can't think of anything else it could have been for row 3..
Eh? BREAD was the answer... Could have had TREAD.
Oh yeah hehe
I thought that too I used STEAD as always try to get S & T in my second guess

5 today, just couldn't see it, resorted to plugging in all combination of letters and even 'discovered' a word I didn't know existed.

Put in spoiler tags just in case. If you meant the answer for today then click it, to see it used in popular culture.

Jules’ speech from Pulp Fiction that’s not Ezekiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
Nice one LF; sorry I wasn't very clear, I know the answer word, but plugging in letters got me a real word (well at least one accepted by Wordle) I'd never come across before

I knew it wasn't BERET as my starter word was GREAT, so R already ruled out. This new fangled word (for me at least) was BEWET

Got distracted after a quick Wordle three at 7:15 this morning. I should have got Byrdle in less than five just now.
