Who is HRH?
Henry Rupert Harris. My late, great grandfather.
are we supposed to know who that is
Isn't he the bloke that always had an Amazon Blue on his shoulder?
call me an uncultured swine but that isn't giving me any more clues. Are you referring to some kind of parrot? Was he a pirate?

Gil seemed a top guy, very successful racer who was becoming an important part of the McLaren group. That's a very sad loss at such a relatively young age.

That's about as amusing as those strokers that post a 'who is Ed Sheeran' question, trying to hint that they're far too cool for modern cultural references, without realising that everyone reading it thinks 'knob'.
That is a bit harsh and hurtful.

I was trying to suggest, without any name calling - such a pity, I always think - that perhaps CharlesdeGaulle meant HM, not HRH.

That's a bit shocking. Sounds a bit like what happened to Denny Hulme back in 1992. He was 56 at the time and suffered a heart attack during a race.

At least they were both doing something they loved.
Gil had turned 56 only last month, on the 11th November to be precise.
That age number always hits me as my dad died of a heart attack (his second) the morning after his 56th birthday, but that was years ago in 1978 - 56 was supposedly 'youngish' even back then. My mum also died at the same age a couple years later.
Makes you wonder wtf is going on these days, motor racing guys I know, and have known, have reg med check-ups.
Of course, sadly, stuff can be missed.

People dying in their fifties is not normal--something else at play there.
