A treat for us was a bottle of Corona, you could get money back on the bottle. Thinking about it, it was a 2d refund so must have been before 1971.
We used to get Alpine lemonade delivered, the same day as Davenports delivered the beer. It was a bit pants, though they did a cream soda which you could feel your tooth enamel eroding with every sip.LordGrover said:

Being packed off to some stty summer camp in Somerset for 3 weeks, getting the biggest splinter ever while playing marbles on the wooden floor of the stty dormitory we all slept in, getting head lice from the pillow of the bed in said stty dormitory, and hearing 2-4-6-8 Motorway on the radio all the time. That and it was hot.

I remember a great drink full of e numbers and dodgy food colouring that I was sure was called fresca but cannot find anything like it in a google search, the advert was a cartoon polar bear and the flavours were all neon like in colour. Was I tripping on it at 8 years old, did it really exist?
Cresta - It's frothy man! Some great memories here. I was six, and my main memories of that year were staying in my uncle's caravan in Exmouth and going karting with my cousin in Sandy Bay. That, and singing along to Fernando and Dancing Queen by ABBA. a year later one of my brothers played me the Sex Pistols and my life changed forever....
Our back garden cracked open too.
