I bought this Karl Lagerfeld number yesterday. Given how 2021 is likely to pan out I'd probably be better with something more tech and wearable but fk it.
TK Maxx in Germany always have loads of KL stuff for sale.....just saying
wink
TK Maxx can have it, it's going back. Too big.

I've been a 40 for ages but it seems I'm shrinking.

It's annoying, I like clean lines, covered plackets, slit pockets etc. I wanted to wear it open though and being too baggy in the body it swamped me. Must be designed for fat Franz's.

Back to square one.

Any suggestions for a good quality parka?

I don't mean Moncler or Canada Goose or something daft just something that is warm in UK cold weather and worth the money and won't make me look like Roy Cropper.

Never sure with some brands how much is name v quality.

As long as you don't want waterproof, a Rab down filled jacket is very good value at <£200. Add a shell jacket over the top and you've got the best of both worlds.

Mine looks very Roy Cropper but I bought a Trespass a couple of years ago and it was super toasty walking around in -7C last week. Looks like they're British too.

Hate me if you like, but for VFM I think you'd be hard-pressed to do a lot better than Lands End Expedition parkas - who have the occasional discount event if one is on their mailing list hehe Probably avoid the green one to be completely Cropper-negative.

I'm very happily tramping around in a pair of their insulated Canadian boot-thingys (the one with the leather uppers and welly bottoms) I picked up for £26, which is ridiculous.

I hate to be a fly in your ointment but surely the best of both worlds would be something that combined the two jackets? Like a lined waterproof coat? biggrin

Bought one of these last year. I love it. Some may find it a bit warm but I’m a bit of a wimp. Quality is fantastic.

Actually having just bought some of their flannel shirts on a tidy 60% discount they are spamming me to death and I did find myself looking at their Squall Parks smile

Keela Munro. https://keelaoutdoors.com/product/munro-jacket/ Made in Scotlandshire, used by many Rescue Teams. I've tried one and really liked it for £200. I have a £450 Mountain Equipment MRT Kongur and the £200 Keela is easily as good.

I bought my main winter coat for £8 about 5 years ago in a Jan sale at TK Maxx.

I've had a number of people tell me without prompting that they like it and I still like the look of it myself. Plus it's fairly warm.

Not very PH I know so if it helps then add a couple of zeros to the price and imagine I buy one every year instead.

Hmm that looks like a damned good technical garment but not entirely sure about the warmth?

Maybe I should have said warm coat rather than parka as that can mean different things to people.

At those prices, I'd be amazed if they're actually manufactured in Scotland. I've emailed them asking where the stuff is actually made.
