Good job im not a fatty as it gives me more choice i guess, like i said the widebody is only better for me for cosmetics.
What engine would you recommend for one? Want something meaty and tuneable. I would be tempted by a V8.
At the place I used to work the normal Caterhams would do a 48 second lap all day long. The SV was a struggle to get in the 49s.What engine would you recommend for one? Want something meaty and tuneable. I would be tempted by a V8.
No V8s. Taking cost into consideration, a Zetec would be a good bet. Cheap, reliable, fairly light, more than enough power for the application.
You're better off saving up a bit more for a 6 speed gearbox. You'll get more use out of that than if you're chasing horsepower.

Well i could spend the 4-5k on a crap engined SEIW with a stty crossflow or whatever. 2.0l zetec crate engines are 900 squid on ebay and id probably want fast road cams and a few other mods. A 6speed out of a mondeo wouldnt be too much at a guess?
Mondeos are front wheel drive.Have a look at prices of Zetec formula ford engines.

Most sites just say POA when it comes to prices for formula ford zetecs.
The price i got for a standard blacktop 2.0l zetec was from this link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Ford-Zetec-Engine-2-...
