Tell us something really trivial about your life (vol 24)
Discussion
Well, I had a fantastic day...
I was due to get a two week test of some awesome prosthetics starting this week with a view to getting me a permanent set. I've been looking forward to this for a couple of months, and I mean really looking forward to it. I had to call the hospital to check something and when I spoke to the physio department they knew nothing about it. "That's strange" I said, and they agreed to check it and call me back.
They called me back.
Turns out the Doc should never have authorised the test as currently the NHS isn't buying any high end prosthetics or doing tests on them. The NHS is currently deciding whether they can afford to buy high end prosthetics at all for people, and the way it is with their budget at the moment I have no doubt they will decide they just don't have the money.
So yeah, no test of good prosthetics and no likelihood of getting them in the future, or so it seems at the moment. I'm stuck with my current set which are st, like an upright wheelchair for all the benefits they offer me.
Been a fking stupendous day.

Straight to the press, twitter etc etc kick up a serious st storm.
I would, but I'd have to direct the storm towards the government and that's just too much effort for too little return. Straight to the press, twitter etc etc kick up a serious st storm.
At the end of the day, I have prosthetics. Sure, they aren't very good and better ones would really make a difference to my life but the NHS just doesn't have the money. They have to find things to sacrifice and if I was in their position I'd probably be doing the same thing. Better prosthetics for someone who already has a set or a life saving operation for someone isn't much of a choice really. That example might be a bit extreme but that's the gist of it.
At the end of the day I look at it and say; Sure, I'm upset but it's not as if they have the money and are choosing not to spend it on me, they straight up cant afford it. The NHS are what, £350 million in debt and rising? I can understand why they don't want to spend £150,000 on a set of prosthetics for one person that'll only last five years or so.
Of course, I say all that but it's still a kick in the balls. I was really looking forward to trying these legs.
First early start at the new place. Signed the book with the correct time. Currentl;y very unpopular with those who came behind me who would have preferred me to have signed in no later than a minute later than the previous person.
You can tell I haven't had to sign in for some years.
I forgot the drill.

Morning.
Fire & First Aid course today. Given that we've already been told that company policy is to only pass the injured person a first aid kit or call an ambulance if needs be, I'm not sure how useful the First Aid bit will be. Hoping the Fire bit includes practical demonstrations though.

Belgium. Friendlier than France, tastier food than Germany and politer than Italy.
Poor roads though, ridiculous street parking charges 50 Euro per half day in some places. Beer good. Beer very good.
European summary over.

ION I am really really looking forwards to the end of the month, weekend away with the OH in Venice which I have never been to but have always wanted to go to.
I'm having a dispute with myself. Kim Bauer..Is she fit? I'm on the fence. She has a cracking body but her face has the potential to annoy me after a while.
I've done the obligatory 'hold up a nurses outfit cutout from my stash to the paused telly' routine but she still annoys me after a few minutes.
Also, Is 24 and it's characters real?

Venice is great for a day, as long as the plebs from the cruise ships have left. Once you've done St Marks and the Rialto, do try and jump on a taxi boat to one of the outer islands. Heck, the view just looking back is worth the fare alone.Mr Roper said:
