problem is not everywhere takes Amex centurion (not a problem for me as I don't frequent such establishments) but some may find it hard to adapt.

That was my inclination but what if they were being used to purchase Tesco Momentum99, that's not council is it? More info needed I think.

Depends what you're putting it in?

I've got quite a zoomy car and the handbook says not to bother putting anything higher than 95 RON in it - no benefit whatsoever; will produce neither more mpgs or more bhps.

Holding up a queue of waiting customers while you slowly put exactly £10 worth of petrol in you poxy fifteen year old Toyota. Come to that putting less than a tankful in anything you drive. Would you half charge a battery?
I hope you too one day have to choose between filling your car and feeding your kids - and the fact they have a 15 year old Toyota would be taken by anyone with a smattering of intelligence as an indicator that the owner doesn't have a lot of money you sanctimonious tt
He said 'exactly' i.e. one of those plonkers who clicks the pump slowly to get it perfectly rounded up, which is a bit council if the petrol station is busy (unless you are truly autistic of whatever who has to get it right). He could have done £9.xx or a few pennies over.
Thank you Hyphen, that's the sort. I queued behind the aforementioned Toyota whilst I was in a hired van in a Devon service station on Monday and she was squirting a few pence worth in and stopping for whole ten pounds worth. I had two hundred miles to drive and was short of time anyway. MartG, you go for your gun so readily you'll shoot yourself in the foot one day. I, too, have had little money to spare and had to be careful, but being inconsiderate in the process is impolite.
When you say "holding up a queue" and squirting a few pence worth in to round up to a tenner, I assume that she got to around £9.50 and then spent an extra 30 seconds on and off the pump handle adding the other 50p?

Can't see it taking more than 30 secs to do this but lets say its a whole minute more than if she had just released at the £10-ish mark and paid.

Not sure its worth getting too stressed about in the scheme of things, if you had 200 miles/3 hours driving ahead then increasing your speed by less than 0.5mph would see you ahead. Being caught by a red light somewhere on the journey probably delayed you more.

I don't round petrol to the penny but tend to fill to the brim when around the 50 miles left point. If I'd been ahead of you rather than that lady it would have probably set you back longer as I'd be putting £60-£70 in.

No, as I said in my second post on this subject, she was squirting a few pence worth in from the start and continued to do so for the whole ten quid's worth. Why she squeezed the lever and released it repetitively I don't know but it took nearly five minutes to put a quantity in that should have taken 30 seconds. It may or may not be 'council' but it was bloody annoying when I had a four hour trip to make in four hours plus unloading time or pay an extra day's hire on a van.

Add to this those who choose not to 'pay at pump' when it is busy. There are queues you idiot, get your cigs elsewhere smash

And when you do get it right, a penny is mysteriously added at the till display by the time you go in to pay! Oh yes, I have put in monetary amounts when caught with only a tenner (other notes are available), but tried to err on the lower side by a penny or two to save doing the miniscule dribbles to get it right, and done it as quickly as possible.

Tesco anything is council as they seem to have the least ethics and are generally incompetent.

Any supermarket scandal that ever happens, you can be sure Tesco will be involved.

And they have cancelled thousands of credit cards today for fraud risk, not long after the 2016 incident.

I use Tesco if I have to, but no to clubcard, no to any of their other services and I sure as hell won't be anything any gift cards!
