Slightly O/T - do you need to store tubed cigars any differently? Should they be kept in their tubes, or does that prevent the moisture from getting to them?
I'm no expert, but I would remove from the tube if storing in a humidor. Someone will be along in a moment to give proper advice though. Bebs said:
I had one of these on Saturday night and it was absolutely divine. Very enjoyable indeed.Re tubed cigars. If sealed and never opened just keep it in the tube. If it has been opened, take out of tube and keep in the humidor.
Garlick, looks like your humidor is back on track then. 65% is fine. Don't let it get much over 70% and keep opening the lid to circulate air every day'ish.

Has anybody celebrated the New Year with a nice cigar then? I was planning on doing, but forgot to take any with me to London! I only smoked rarely last year but had some excellent cigars which were lovely. What would you recommend I buy that will keep me interested?
I did, a Cohiba Siglo at midnight-ish with a stupidly large cognac. I've enjoyed a few over the past couple of weeks. I've enjoyed a couple of Don Tomas Corona Grandes Tubos, a few Monte Cristo Club as daytime smokes, and I'm about to light a Luis Martinez Ashcroft Corona as a bit of an experiment, with a nice glass of tawny.
Out of interest, MadMullah, did you ever find anywhere in or around Manchester where you can enjoy a smoke that isn't a shisha bar?

I've only had a few over December, one to celebrate the birth of my son (Cohiba Siglo) without drink and one for Christmas which was a Quintero panatella, pleasantly smooth and complemented the Remy Martin XO quite nicely. The others were much more mundane. Subsequent to Birth of son, SWMBO has expressed a preference that I do it a bit less :/

I havent disillusioned. The nearest I got was somewhere near Huddersfield i think there's a hotel there that has a cigar terrace.I believe the Midland hotel used to have a cigar shop inside but has since closed down.
London does seem to be the place for a terrace, in that sense Manchester really has really dropped the ball.

That's a real shame, I'll have a word with a few tobacconists and see if I can find anything up this way, if not, it's a niche opportunity for someone which is sorely missed. I believe the Midland hotel used to have a cigar shop inside but has since closed down.

I'd be willing to travel a reasonable distance to enjoy a smoke somewhere other than home or holiday, although last Christmas some friends and I rented a cottage in Snowdonia, I took my bottle of port and my R&J and set up a deck chair in the snow, looking out over the mountains a river and a lake... That was very pleasant (and yes said friends looked at me as though I was thoroughly off my rocker).

Oh its definately an opportunity in manchester - it would go down a storm in the right place. I'd love to do something along these lines if only the start up costs werent so high!!I'd be willing to travel a reasonable distance to enjoy a smoke somewhere other than home or holiday, although last Christmas some friends and I rented a cottage in Snowdonia, I took my bottle of port and my R&J and set up a deck chair in the snow, looking out over the mountains a river and a lake... I would've thought that there would be at least ONE place that catered for this in the UK's 2nd city. I travelled all the way to ten manchester st in London to enjoy their selection! Before I got made redundant I was planning a trip to Boisdale.
I went to Pakistan recently and was looking forward to smoking a cigar or two on my terrace overlooking a lake - got there and the cigar shop had burnt down a few months earlier
