Cheaper and better functionality than the montblanc augmented paper...

More useful too.

Better writing experience (it seems) compared to a 3x as expensive Surface Pro 4 too.

This hooked up to a bog standard dell office laptop would be perfect for me, I'm watching with interest.

I like the instant sync feature, easier than standing at a whiteboard/projector when designing/explaining.

The wheel off an F1 car.

Was at Autosport a couple of weeks ago with a mate, and I'd been bidding on F1 wheels on eBay before, but never won an auction. Saw some at the show, but bringing them home would have been tricky, not sure something that size qualifies as hand luggage.

Had to wait a couple of hours for the plane home, so sat in the pub in the airport and had a few pints. Then drank some more on the plane, landed at ten ish, and went to my mates where a few people were over for more beers. Had a good night.

The Sunday afternoon my phone made the dreaded eBay noise. "You've won the auction" fk. What auction?

So a couple of days later the wheel arrived. Off the back of a 2006 Williams F1 car. Either Rosberg or Webber apparently.

So, I measured it, and went round to the glaziers to get a piece of glass but and drilled.

£82?! For a piece of glass? Well, I've already spent £180 ish on the wheel, so I guess I might as well now.

So went back home and ordered some fancy looking little anodized blue nuts and bolts and washers for the holes in the glass. The glass isn't fixed to the wheel, the holes just allow bolts to sit through and locate the glass on top, centred.

Got to the checkout on the bolt website, £28! For 3 bolts, 3 nuts and 6 washers? Well, I'm already into this for over £250, so I might as well do it right!

So here it is:

My brothers birthday today, he's a huge F1 fan, I'll give it to him.

Although not decided what to do with the 'outside' of the wheel, the markings on it do not want to shift, not sure whether I leave it as is for the 'used' look, or paint it?
I need to get around to doing something similar with mine.

I'd like the glass to be secured using a wheel nut though

You could look at a UV light curing adhesive around the perimeter of the rim? Cures clear and very strong.

This looks brilliant, but so expensive! eek
If it could record sound too and sync it with written notes the way Livescribe pens do then I'd have one in a heartbeat.

I have a wheel (with fitted tyre) from when I owned a Murcielago... it sits in the garage looking rather lonely. I've been thinking of doing something similar.

I have already backed it and it seems good, plus only $40 or so if crap.

Cool, but I imagine wipe it down a PITA.
They say no as you have to buy a specific pen that will wipe off with water and a cloth.

Will see how it goes, but for the cost its very reasonable.

This week I bought a Samsung Atmos sound bar as well as a 4k player to watch Atmos films. I have no Atmos films other than the demo disc which I get told off for listening to as it's too loud.

Same company as before, they have updated the tech to make it more useable.

100 pages that have 5-10 use lifecycle to 36 pages that should be unlimited (in the 1000s) in their re-use.

Dropped a couple of bits of artwork to be framed yesterday and the gallery there was some showcases by a new local artist who has done a range based on Lego characters and also does commissions

Edited: Mostly watercolours and signed prints plus she does commissions as well (this one was only £39 fully framed too!!)

Me too. Please could you share some more info on the artist (can't quite make out the signature) or where you bought it from.

Thanks,

Yes of course, no probs at all. I bought it from The Picture Place in Sunderland (http://www.thepictureplacenortheast.co.uk/)

But there is also a link on the back for the artist Deborah Cauchi. She is Sunderland based and has a websites:

This is the sticker with her contact details on:

Just backed this, Virtual Titanic project.

The previous Apollo 11 project was a very good educational experience so I think these guys will deliver.
