It's funny how everyone thinks it'll be "cold" this weekend. What? 21C? Cold? By any normal UK standards that is a very nice day.
Last year, you'd have been begging for anything in the 20s!

Here is a first... First ever amber thunder warning from the MetOffice. Different areas covered compared to the other sources I put up:

Thank you for introducing me to the word petrichor. That's one I have never heard before.

I wouldn't describe it as a stench, though. I have always liked the smell of rain on parched ground.
Ohhh, I love it too. I used the word stench because it was so overpowering. It actually woke me up.

Comes from the greek for stone/rock

Just had a gander at Blitzorg and there might be some action here in an hour or two, that is unless it fizzles out before it gets here, which it probably will.... Just checked again and it looks like it is fizzling out already.
Yes, as usual it's effing fizzling out just as it's due to arrive

Last post before I endure the hell that is le Shuttle tomorrow morning!

After this brief blip, the most likely scenario for August is more heat and sunshine smile

215000 strikes. That is huge for the UK.

Currently in queue to check in at shuttle. Jumped the m20 queue by using the back roads. There's an entrance off the A20 wink

Upgraded to flexi on way. £96 well spent...? Time will tell

Flexi is excellent...I always use it.

Particularly good now they have new lounges, although the sandwiches tend to be a little stale.
Flexi was working as always apart from you had to queue to check in. 96 pounds very well spent. We're 100 miles from Calais instead of baking in Folkstone.

Current forecast here in the Loire is a week of mid 30s, but high teens lows. So sleep is possible!

Our house has woods and a cave to hide from the heat and a lake with a beach.

Signals that for the UK, after this little heat wave that low pressure and the jet stream will have a bigger say. As usual north and west will fare worse.

Any accurate weather reports for Swansea tomorrow?

Seeing conflicting weather sites saying it'll be overcast all day and then others saying it'll be sunny?

Work afternoon party tomorrow on the beach so we have a bit of a divided office as to what the weather will be.
looks like high pressure but wind from the SW, hence the cloud. So 20/21 degrees and if you see the sun then count yourself lucky.
