You'll have noticed the crazy 'feels like' temps and actual temps have pegged back. Wind will move to a more NErly direction, so nowhere near as hot.

Theat of thunder seems to have diminished tonight. Still a chance, but lower.

Threat for Tuesday in SE has raised.

Yes, it seems like it is just the squib of dampness, even where earlier forecast there has been no thunder.

Very odd day today here in East Berks, very low cloud, very humid and it looked and felt like something should happen but it didn't other just a few spots of rain.

Fingers crossed for Tues and good news on those stupid temps coming right down later in the week.

Never been so relieved to see a weather downgrade.

Happy for people to have warmth and sun, but when it's so hot it's hard to move let alone do anything productive it gets very boring very quickly.

Got to be up for work at 0430, but I swear I've just seen a flash of lightning, followed about 20 seconds later, a distant rumble of thunder that I was listening out for.

I'm too excited to sleep now!

We're (Derbys) predicted thundery showers pretty much all morning till midday now, though I do understand it's not going to be constant.

Storms did finally form, over far northern England...

A lot of rain Hampshire bound- then up to the Midlands.

Kent/Essex/Suffolk (yet again) in the firing line later - very rare to see the UK included on this European map, let alone a red level 2. Confidence is quite low for UK though...

Blimey!

Looking at the rain radar, heavy rain is inbound towards Kent.

Nothing sowing on the lightning radar though in the South, a bit up in South West Scotland though.

Fingers crossed that it will kick off later, the atmosphere feels "charged" !

That's right - UK is forecast to have the most severe storms in Europe...

@UKweatherlive has this forecast:

So - a 40-60% chance of storms for some - and they could be prolonged and severe in the black area.

All joking aside, that is actually quite worrying when we get a series of "first ever" warnings of that magnitude.

Hopefully nobody and no property will come to harm and we end up with just regular storms, if any at all !
