People blaming each other about the state of the planet and climate change.
Here's a thing; instead of pointing the finger at everyone else do something about it yourself.
Also, stop telling me how I should live when I know you flew to Davos. Ever heard of Netmeeting? Here's a thing; instead of pointing the finger at everyone else do something about it yourself.
This bloody God of green has been a Govenment's saviour. Charge whatever you want and then just put it down to being green to ease peoples minds.
Does anyone know where this 5p bag tax goes?
Another thing. Woke? What the bloody hell does this mean?
Megexit. Shut the fk up with stupid made up words. Is this going to be the new Watergate phrase?

Sound advice, one of many minefields to be negotiated when conversing with someone for the first time in Glasgow. I generally try and hold off on dealing with the 'wit team dae ye support?' question for as long as possible. .
Don't worry, any Glaswegian hardmen [sic] I've met are 5ft skinny, pallid runts, due to bad diet, lack of sunlight, pisspoor gene pool, and a a passion for smoking and drinking.
They've nae chance against healthy, beefy teuchter loons.

Generally it means trying not to be a dick and tryng to show a little tolerance and consideration of others. HtH. For example, if you're Woke you are trying to think about what you say and do, and trying hard not to be racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. As in, trying to be a decent human being.
It's sad that it needs a word when it should just be normal social behaviour.

Putting up with the fickle demands of the ever-growing league of self-entitled minorities is not 'normal social behaviour', and certainly isn't the difference between being a decent human being or not.
Ironically, that's quite a quite a self-entitled attitude.Clockwork Cupcake said:

Maybe 'entitled' rather than 'self-entitled'. Either way it's not very tolerant. But a fundamental feature of liberty and free society is living your life without impacting on the lives of others. And therein lies the issue: too many people who choose alternative lifestyles expect wider society to change for them.

The problem with today's 'woke' is it implies those who don't share the woke brigade's social awareness and virtuosity are in some way lagging. In itself it is assumptive and patronising to sections of society whilst at the same time offers overtones of smugness and hubris to those that consider themselves so attributed.
I don't necessary disagree with you. popeyewhite said:

One would indeed hope not. I think it's just a label for those who are overtly so, maybe. Or who make a particular effort, especially when they stereotypically wouldn't othewise. I don't know.
I'm not really a big fan of labels really. I was just trying to answer the original question of "what does it even mean?" although I realise it was probably a rhetorical question.
Anyway, no matter. Probably the wrong thread for it.

CC, I had no idea what it meant and even drew a blank on google, so thanks for explaining it.
I’m sure I can’t be the only one that didn’t know.

I dont care if you think we should believe those things above as i dont,I chose to discriminate.I dont want your views about how to behave to others. For example, if you're Woke you are trying to think about what you say and do, and trying hard not to be racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. As in, trying to be a decent human being.

Well, don't read them then. I'm as entitled to post on this thread as you are.Possibly more so given I've been a member of PH for 18+ years and you joined 2 months ago.
