Stupid people resent tax. They are often people that pay relatively little, because they earn little, but won't even pay £1 more for any reason or justification, because they think other people should pay it.
bit random - I resent the way the tax is gathered, and spent - nearly all of it.

I'm far from stupid and I pay much much tax........

I would have thought it was the other end of the spectrum that had an issue with it - not the poor that hardly pay any.
the main thing for me is that people moan, moan and fking moan about tax is spent. However, have you ever run a country, budget or a major public service? It's in the same category as Darren half pissed in the local going on and on about how he could manage his football team better than any manager they've ever had. It's just sounding off. People for the most part know less than fk all about the decisions, compromises, diplomacy, assessment, procurement, commercial dealings that a government has to undertake. All that in the context that they can't actually take the actions they would probably like to take because they are beholden to the all-knowing electorate. Anything transformative is loved by some and hated by others. Hate in numbers loses elections. Love in numbers does not always win them. "yea yea fking politicians just looking to keep themselves in power at all costs" well guess what most people know zip there too. Polarised politics breeds massive instability, flip flopping between parties gets nothing done either. It's almost impossible to get things done in a democracy. Unless you are maybe someone like Thatcher. Moan moan moan fking Thatcher fking ruined my coh-myoo-neet-eh i'd love to dance on er grave!! Well if you think that then maybe you are proving my point.
not quite the same as half pissed Darren. I think I'd quite like to run the country. The way I've run business and I've seen far better than me run business, we could absolutely do a better job. Yes I have ran major budgets, and major services. (Not public).

Don't judge everyone by your own standards of competence and experience.
and all of that is pointless incorroborable hot air unless you plan to run for office. So, why have are you depriving the electorate of the ability to vote for such a highly qualified and suitable candidate?
they can't afford me
classic
fact as it goes. I'm not going to cut my own throat to do a thankless job. I'll do it when they pay appropriately.

Incidently, I'd do it for the same as I get now........I'm just not taking a pay cut.
i don't think politicians generally get into that line of work for the money. Maybe if you're only looking at your own remuneration then you're not the right person to run the country after all?
or maybe, just maybe the sort of people that become politicians do it because they aren't actually very good at anything and nobody would pay them more than they can make. So they're at the top of the skillset.........and most struggling with that.

Had they run big programmes, or businesses, they wouldn't be so fking useless and would respect expenditure, profit etc.

I know the answer, no need for a debate.
my unpopular opinion is that multiple quotes like this become wk fodder to people who just like arguing. These people probably are under their wives thumbs and have a very poor sex life
All they do is eventually fill the whole page up while they continue to insult each other
All this whilst furiously getting red in the face and trying to pretend to be calm
It's a bit like a test you used to do when windows vista first came out and you could do the test that ive completely forgotten about
i can do that test for you but i REFUSE TO TAKE A PAY CUT in doing it

Fair enough Mr Grumpy. I’ll take it as a no.
I'm already well aware that I can't stop you taking anything whichever way you want. Fill your boots!

Why can’t you answer. I’m just trying to understand a mindset that would rather give his/her money to the government than their own flesh and blood? If you didn’t have children I would understand your position more.
Doesn't that happen every month? If I didn't have to pay tax, I'd have more money to spend on my kids. But then again, I want my kids to grow up in a country with free healthcare and education and other stuff.

I'd avoid arguing with yonex, he has a tendency to reinterpret other people's posts and then attempt to continue the argument based on his misunderstanding.

My unpopular opinion is that children should only be given names off an approved list of sensible names.

eg. My cousin has a child named Honey, which can only be a hindrance in life. It is a Stripper's name not an accountant's.

(I believe certain countries already have this policy (Sweden?))

Tattoos are class-defining. They are also silly, and an indication of being susceptible to peer pressure.

Under Franco in Spain, boys had a choice of 17 names. Girls had a choice of 1, Maria, although they had a free choice of middle name which they tend to go by in daily life.

I like Honey as a name, it's the bee's knees.

Ah well if only you'd said that at the start I would have deferred to your obvious authority.

Yes you definitely qualify for this thread.
Well done. I'll do that next time, save us both time. x

Yep, All 350,000 of them. And they have a Nordic naming system, without traditional family names/surnames as we know them over here.

The rich diversity that we are allowed in giving our children pretty much any name we choose is much better than having a list or having to get approval in advance. Yes, it does lead to some interesting names. But so what?
