One more day to survive... Every day down to the lake during peak heat. The lake is 29 degrees, which is lush.

Open up a radar, look at the torrential rain over NW France... We're driving to Calais under that. Miserable.

How does this summer move in to winter? Hard one to call. Hopefully some will remember that I mentioned last winter could translate in to an epic summer if the pattern maintained. Well, it did.

The blocking pattern is still quite strong. However the jet stream is wobbling south currently, hence today's rain. And it looks likely currently to keep near the UK. Sunspot activity this year has been extremely low. Usually a portent of a cold winter.

Severe storm warning for Thames Valley eastwards today. Chance of flooding, large hail, even tornadoes.

High pressure never far away from the South next week, so under normal circumstances a pretty good week for us.

Early indications of a bbq weekend next weekend. High 20s possible.

No indications of change to the pattern, jet stream stays near the north and west, high pressure occasionally ridging in to the south and east.

Changeable weather, not changeable pattern!

Anyone know where you can view a list of daily max temperatures for the year or a defined period for a specific area?

eg London daily temps for the last 3 months?

Interesting dichotomy between the public models and what the Met Office are saying. Public models showing the unsettled weather and jet stream effecting most of the country most of the time. Met Office talking about southern England enjoying a return to what we would normally call summery weather (ie not heat wave!).

Bank Holiday weekend. Looking cold, but not particularly wet. A northerly wind (!!!) will keep temps down and probably quite cloudy. I wouldn't fancy camping somewhere on the NE coast...

After that, the most likely outcome is high pressure and a late summery spell.

Even by the standards of what we expect from bank holiday weather (ie pouring down) this one has been appalling - it’s has been absolutely bouncing down since Saturday evening and has just stopped - perfect for getting ready for work tomorrow.
It's been quite acceptable in Berkshire Sat and today smile
