Water goes down the plug hole in the direction depending of what hemisphere it's in.
If you have an extremely large bath then that is true....
Nope, it's true. Did it this morning in the bath having a shower. Water went one way but when I directed the water the other way the direction changed and didn't revert back.

The Chevrolet/Vauxhall Nova selling poorly in Spanish-speaking countries because it translates to "won't go". Even if that's what it does mean, does anyone believe that one of the biggest companies in the world didn't employ a single person who spoke Spanish and would have pointed it out?

Yes and no.

Whilst "no va" in Spanish does translate as "doesn't go" its completely grammatically incorrect and "nova" is a distinct word (as in an exploding star). "Va" is "ir" conjugated for you (el/ella/usd.), "ir" means "to go" in Spanish, but typically refers to a person going (I.E. I'm going to the shop) not a function. For a car you'd say "no funciona" (doesn't work) or "no camina" (doesn't run).

Also Nova is a brand of petrol in Mexico.

Whilst it's true the Chevy Nova didn't sell well in Latin America, it's probably due to more mundane reasons like price or quality.

I think it was Ford who had the same issue when trying to sell the Pinto truck in Brazil (or other country). Pinto was local slang for "Small Penis" and so nobody would buy one. So they then re-badged it with whatever the local word for "Horse" was and sales increased.

I'd believe it if it was a korean company - that sort of 'if it's not in Korean it's not true' behaviour is/was very common.

These ladies are paranoid about the effects of these dangerous plastic bottles. If only they knew that they also contained the potentially lethal Dihydrogen Monoxide as well! eek
Well clearly we have been discussing this so much that the BBC Website have picked up on it!

Yep, true. Have tried it about 1km north and 1km south of the equator, and on the equator itself, in Zaire (as it then was: shows how long ago).

Edit: on the equator, it doesn't rotate.

The Coriolis Effect is real, but very easily disrupted on the small scale.

Don’t need to play ‘em backwards…

Decide

(Once Upon the Cross & fk your God are two of my particular favourites).

Hint: if the singer of a band has branded an inverted crucifix into his forehead (12 times, allegedly) then you probably don't need to play the record backwards to find scary satanic messages... I’m sure they’ve saved many a stylus over the years.

Just sayin', like.

Not required - Land Rover windows will fall out anyway on impact.
if they have series doors, yes, but mine are electric and due to the standard of electrics by Lucas prince of darkness, would fuse if I hit a big puddle so I'd be stuck. smile

Doesn't mean it's been tested, it means it complies with relevant CE standard for that product.
