A dash of good news is that the charts appear to indicate that we've stepped away from the worst prospect of a train of Atlantic storms. We're far away from a perfect summer but more likely to return to what we had before. Meaning the South enjoying what little heat there is with a relatively stable outlook and the North (paticularly NW) getting the poorer weather.

11 degrees here in Falkirk, Central Scotland this morning, with a cheeky wee breeze just to make it feel even cooler.
This is the stiest summer I can remember for a while.
It's starting to get me down.
It feels like autumn in Cheshire and has done for a while. This is the stiest summer I can remember for a while.

a genuine chill in the damp air and I wouldn't sit outside even with a chimnea on full pelt due to the damp.
My wife even put the heating on the other night and I couldn't really complain.
Grim.

Eleven, ELEVEN, you lucky lucky bd, the weather gods must like you, 9 degrees at 11am this morning in Glasgow with a constant drizzle and so overcast the autoheadlights were on.
I was so cold I had my heated seat on high.
Late July in the West of Scotland folks, woop.
Just seen the weather and they confirmed what many have already said - the Jetstream unfortunately is sweeping across the UK lower than normal hence the train of low pressure fronts. Doesn't look like there is going to be much change for the remainder of the summer either.
Next few days look better though, in the south at least.

I can well believe that. Here in the North West it's been mostly awful - even when we had a 'hot spell' it was still windy. I can't remember the last time I had a bike ride and it wasn't wind affected. You'd expect a nice gentle breeze at this time of year, not strong winds.Next few days look better though, in the south at least.
It seems the south have had the best of the summer. Enjoy!! Not jealous at all.....
