Looks like that's it now - that was only a little on, but I did put some Xanax in the dog!

Some absolutely sensational pictures of storms in Texas in this thread https://twitter.com/lauralouu30/status/13943864824... . Including this absolutely mind-blowing image:

I really, really hope this turns out to be the case. I've actually become somewhat depressed thanks to the godawful weather we've been having of late. At least some indoor stuff is open again now; it was purgatory last week!
Increasingly likely smile

Signs remain for improving weather next week. Nothing hot or summery - just more typical for time of year. High teens, less rain, less wind. Better.

Well, in a month's time the days start to get shorter.

Managed to get out in the sun and mow the lawn.

Then it rained.

Models showing a particularly vicious squall line later today. Keep an eye out...

What sort of location and timing?!

No doubt it’ll be 5 minutes after I’ve fired up the bbq....
Probably effect more western areas most and then lose strength as it tracks east. This afternoon.

All UK - top to bottom.

Remember how bank holidays always seem to have crap wearher.

Not this one. It's my birthday weekend. And I forbid it.

Near 20 degrees will seem idyllic after this dross.

If you look at the radar, you can start seeing a narrow band of very heavy rain embedded in the front

Yep. That dark line. Shows up on the rain radar better, as pointed out.

Widespread chance of small storms today to finish off the May with the most thunder in history.

Then it settles down and approaches average temps. Not great, but much better.

Looks likely we'll end up with March providing the warmest temps of spring - another record.

Not sure where you're getting your info - but next weekend should 100% dry for most.

This weekend will feel decidedly pleasant. But don't pack away the warm/dry clothes yet...

Things might go downhill next week.

Well, well - GFS predicted the improved spell would hang around, the big models predicted a downturn next week. They've back tracked. Might be a more typical summer patter with NW areas (like GetCarter's neck of the woods) suffering passing lows up towards the Faroes while the south remains more stable.

Being a southerner - I'll take that. Summer is on.
