There seems to have been a shortage of northerlies over the past few years, growing up our road would be blocked each winter by drifting snow blown in from the north but it hasn't happened for ages.
We've had plenty of drifting snow but seemingly always from other directions.
They happen a lot - just not during winter We've had plenty of drifting snow but seemingly always from other directions.

Word of the day, once again, is ‘apricity’ (17th century): the warmth of the sun in winter.
Problem is, it's autumn https://twitter.com/susie_dent/status/145655019826...

Saw a brief telegraph article about gas shortages and a polar vortex causing trouble for UK.
I couldn't work out if the vortex was a if this happens we're buggered, or the the problem was that it was going to happen and possible gas shortages meant we're buggered.
Any stirrings in the weather tea leaves?
The GFS has occasional flutters with a cold spell at a long time frame. Not worth reposting as it has no support from itself - it changes back to normal, and the ensembles don't support it - and no support from other models.I couldn't work out if the vortex was a if this happens we're buggered, or the the problem was that it was going to happen and possible gas shortages meant we're buggered.

(Ensembles are where they take the starting point of weather data, then tweak a tiny bit, see where it ends up - they make 20-30 of them. If the main forecast has over 50% support in the ensembles, it is far more likely).

Back to the weather, it is drizzling here in East Berkshire, North Maidenhead out towards Cookham to be precise, not too worried about that. But am more interested in what it will be like tomorrow when all of our chattels are in a lorry or two going up the M1 to a village quite close to Chesterfield?
Today is the worst day in the current short term forecast. It won't get much better sunshine wise, but it will be drier. Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
