Have a quiet word with him. Preferably immediately after he has been smoking as he'll be much less inclined to have a row wink

He may just not know. I used to smoke regularly in my old place and it was only when one of the neighbours had a polite quiet word that the hallway stank that I realised how much it was escaping the flat. Some opened windows, a draught excluder and glade plug ins later. Problem solved everyone happy.

How far away from your house is he smoking it? I have a joint a couple of times a week outside my house and never had any complaints from the neighbours, if they said something I'd just go smoke it at the end of the garden but I'd not be very receptive to the idea of not doing it anywhere on my own property.
of course, nor should you put up with someone taking issue with you breaking the law and stinking up their property as long as you're on yours...that smelly corpse under the patio? My gaff, my rules!!! tsk.

try reading my posts, paying particular attention to the parts where I state I'm very happy to compromise with the neighbours if they did have any issue with it, then come back and be a sarcastic tt.

Cheers.

I was concerned that the smoke could have potential to be harmful to children. Mental health issues arising later spring to mind when I think of children and drugs. I don't know of a bbq causing long term harm to children.
A whiff of pot is going to be far less harmful for them than being wrapped in cotton wool all their lives.

I must be strange as I love the smell of it, and cigarettes. Probably because I smoke neither anymore frown

Afraid I'd be reporting him, I know it's not a popular view on here but I'm completely anti drugs and wouldn't hesitate to make the call.

If I'd been living there a while and had a good relationship with my neighbours I would probably have a quiet word with his parents first, I can't imagine they'd be too happy with the idea that their son's a druggie.
That may well sort the problem out without the need for the law.

What a small minded fool.

Let's hope a holier than thou anti speeding type doesn't move in down the road and make ongoing complaints about you speeding to the police.

As I said, not a popular view on here (though I don't appreciate being called a fool)

For what it's worth, I live in a country where there are pretty much no drugs and a very definate zero tolerance policy.
Funnily enough, it's safe to leave my car and house unlocked, my sat nav in the windscreen and I can walk around anywhere at any time of night without fear.....

I wonder are the 2 linked perhaps.

Sorry but I abhor drugs.

See i would say the lack of alcohol is more of a factor than lack of weed, i have never been in a violent confrontation with a stoned bloke but i have with pissed people, depriving the UK population of alcohol would cause chaos now but if we had never had it we might have less loutish behaviours.

And i know that the oil rich families from have no issue with flouting the drugs laws here in the UK.

That's an interesting one.....As far as loutish behaviour goes I can see where you're coming from, but I rather suspect that far more muggings and thefts occur to get money to buy drugs than occur to get money to buy alcohol.

Genuine question - what's the attitude towards tobacco? Free use? Age controlled? Widely consumed, or just at home?

Here it's age controlled, fairly widely consumed (especially by the Russian, Chinese and Lebanese) relatively cheap and can be smoked in most places - you'll struggle to find a smoke free nightclub for example, though there are a number of bars that have non-smoking zones.

It's illegal to smoke within 10m (I think) of an office building and they are all non-smoking inside.

Thanks. And I guess anything stronger is banned (like Qat)?

Yep, Qat is banned in the UAE.

Not too much of a problem for tourists, of bigger concern is the fact that both coedine and valium are strictly controlled drugs here. You can bring them into the country, but you must have a prescription for them and you will be questioned upon arrival.
