Hmmmm.

What would I rather?

A "farmer's daughter" in a stetson and cowboy boots, sat in the tailgate of a pickup truck round a camp fire?

or a trashy barley-dressed Kardashian wannabe in a nightclub staggering around in massive heels after a few WKDs?

Tough choice....
Hardly traditional British country wear is it?

Am I alone?
Looks like you've got your answer. Unless you're a white supremacist or still live with mother or a gun fantasist or the local slag then other forms of headgear may be more appropriate.

Also not an actual choice that CC will ever have to make.

One of the best pieces of advice ever generated on PH.

I don't think I'd get offered that choice. I'd have to be content with the nightclub cleaner

But, unless things have changed dramatically since I was working in the mid west, the reality would be that that pickup would be groaning under the weight of the land whale perched atop of it and she would have needed a substantial hand to get up there in the first place.

All the pretty ones go West to monetise their clunges and the smart ones go East to monetise their brains. It's probably why the chaps end up with buckets with footprints on the underside.

Maybe it crossed his mind that he doesn't want to be tied down to an inactive, John Smith drinking, Coronation Street watching, weatherspoon slag.

Lady F occasionally wears one of these abominations but:

a) she's from South Carolina originally, so I sort of feel she's allowed, even though it's not really cowboy country. My wife says things like "y'all" and has inherited a hint of her mother's lovely southern accent, so it sort of feels authentic.
b) it looks great on her, and
c) it looks great on her.

Interesting comment about the smart ones leaving rural hickshire, USA. I met some of their SC relatives for the first time at their wedding, as well as the cousins I know from Cali and NYC (and Lady F's own parents, both doctors, who left SC for Bethesda, MD, and never looked back).

That comment in the thread earlier about the stupid, ugly, useless ones being the only ones to stay? Yes.

Would I, as a British man, wear a Stetson?

No.

Because all yank birds look like the pick up girl and all British birds are as you described, obviously...
