I'm shorter than the average male, not massively but nonetheless shorter.
To my knowledge, it's not held me back in life although I have to admit, it's probably dented my confidence on occasions.
In this age of political correctness, why is it acceptable to insult people who are short?
Almost every time a female is interviewed on a TV dating show (my wife watches them) they say they don't like short men.
They'd get lynched if they said anything about race, religion, weight or disability
Tell me I'm being paranoid shortarse and this is just short man syndrome.

Meh, at least you have a chance of being comfortable in aeroplane seats.
Forgot to mention that. Being 5'7" every seat is an extra legroom seat TwigtheWonderkid said:

There is a huge amount of academic research out there on this topic.
Height is the number one predictor (for men) of career, wealth and dating success.
In a nutshell, if you are short (under ~6ft in Western societies), you will make less money in your lifetime, almost never make it to the CEO chair, and have far less sex than tall men.
Men don't like being ruled by short men (because they look weak and command less fear).
Women don't like short men (because they look weak and provide less protection).
It's no coincidence that pretty much every women's dating show or website always wants "tall, dark and handsome" men... and not "short, bald and ugly" men.
Yes, there is the odd Bernie Ecclestone. But they are the exception rather than the rule. Most short men underperform in life.
The only upside is that medium-short men typically live longer than very tall men.
As usual, you're talking garbage. I'm 6'1. Not overly tall these days, but not short. Years ago I have a boss who was 5'2. He commanded complete respect from all in his team, men and women , because he deserved to be where he was, he was knowledgeable, and knew how to manage people. Height is the number one predictor (for men) of career, wealth and dating success.

There are many stunning women who are around 5ft who wouldn't want to be with a 6'1 man. They'd be happy with a man maybe 5'4-5'7.
The men don't like being ruled by short men is not true in the slightest, in the Infantry there are many 5' 5"- 5' 8" men who are hugely respected leaders and put the fear of god up plenty of 6' 200lb gorillas.
Anyway, bald men get less sex, and fat men and low IQ men and poor men and Rangers fans get less still. There are plenty of short men who get more than tall stupid poor men, we are all on a multitude of spectrums.

But, on the whole, the shorter you are, the less successful you will be.
Tall men have higher social status, look cleverer, command more physical respect, make more money, and have more sex.
If you are a 5ft 4in male, something like 95-99% of (Western) women will be unattracted to you. Females are hugely dimorphic and biologically "hate" short men.
This is a fascinating read if you are tall, average or short.

I'm 6'1, in half decent shape, dress sensibly etc. You'd think I'd be doing "alright" But I see profiles on dating sites that specify "taller than me as I like to wear heels" Hit a lot of the commonalities in terms of interests etc YET still don't get much/anything from those sites. And I know I'm not alone in that.
Women spend their lives making lists and when someone hits 90%+ of the criteria they'll find another reason to reject you, me or anyone. The heightism is nothing more than "failure to commit to the notion of dating" It's not you its THEM!
Mad as cats!
In other related stuff
1) Short people annoy because they expect me to get things down from high shelves, yet if I drop something they never offer to pick it up for me!
2) Studies have shown short people forget they are short, so its important to remind them at all times they are a "fking midget"
3)

Of course it shouldn’t make any difference, but there is something inherently funny about somebody who is vertically challenged bking somebody who towers over them. Similarly, the inability for ones feet to touch the floor when a chair is raised to its highest setting is in no way amusing.
I once had a boss with Napolean complex and the temptation to pat him on the head was almost impossible to resist. Managed it, just.

Are you new to Pistonheads? Any picture of a normal woman will be followed by at least half a dozen men making derisory 'jokes' about whales and harpoons.
Got a picture of what you describe as a "normal woman"? Because nowadays that tends to mean fatties. When I was a kid, if you were slim, and, well, "normal", you were normal. If you were fat you were "fat".
I think that's pretty much how its been throughout human history until about, ooh, 2015. Since then its all "yeah, you go girl, you are big and beautiful!"
Taking the piss out of small people is fun and it makes up for my inability to find clothes that fit, the limitations on cars I can drive, my inability to use bus seats, all the times I bang my head on ceilings / door frames that are too low, and always looking skinny no matter how much I workout.

I'm quite short but I think that most of the above is still about attitude. I don't particularly think about height or let it bother me and I don't think it has held me back in any particular way.
Having said that, I am also quite old so didn't really do the online dating thing. A place where you are automatically discounted because of your height may make it more difficult to meet someone I suppose
When you reach a 'certain age' the first requirement of dating web site potential partners will be "has a pulse".Having said that, I am also quite old so didn't really do the online dating thing. Indeed. Never having to pay for a proper sized seat, never paying VAT on clothing, getting drunk on a half pint, only needing one weetabix a week. Short blokes save a fortune, the fact they have to work nearly as hard as a ginger to pick up women is merely giving something back to society. And yet they whinge. Luckily we can’t hear them.
