Worn Topman super skinny stretch 26inch waist for the last 10 years.. they're not that skinny though
I do have various proper jeans and chinos but they're nowhere near as comfy as the super stretch

Gap do something for everyone, from skinny through to standard.
Never thought I'd say this, but I purchased a pair of stretch jeans from there recently. Absolutely fantastic. Was fed up with buying jeans that looked spot on, only to end up tearing the arse out of them every time I did something remotely energetic. The stretch ones are identical to normal jeans, but with just a little bit of give in them, so much more comfortable too. I'm getting old.
I've bought the £10 stretch regular/straight jeans for ages from primark. love em. they last about a year at which point it's completely worn out in between the crotch area.Never thought I'd say this, but I purchased a pair of stretch jeans from there recently. Dark Levis 510 skinny - worn in a hot bath and properly shrunk to fit.
In all honesty they are not quite as well fitted as the GAP pairs I used to wear but typically when they needed replacing they were discontinued...
There is a big difference between skinny jeans and skinny (ie, spray on) jeans which look more like leggings

+1 I'm 46 and do wear skinny jeans and chinos but draw the line at the very tight stuff. I've got pretty slim legs so what would be skin tight on some look fine on me imo. Personally don't see a problem with still following fashion trends (within reason) in your 40's but each to their own. Somebody recommended Nudie for jeans a few years back and theyre the only ones i buy now.
