Got to wait until 25yrs service, but gift to the value of 2.5k isn't bad, only 11yrs to go!
Ah but remember the effect of inflation, you're £2,500 is only really £1,806.05 at 3% p.a.

After leaving my job of 4 years to go to Uni, the MD sent me a 'personal letter' thanking me for my hard work over the last few months!!!

When I got back from honeymoon, 1 week before my 6 months probation was up, I received a letter telling me that my job no longer existed. Fortunately they kept me on for a further 3 months, and paid me 5 months salary when I left - which I promptly spanked on RBS shares at 12.99p. Which is nice. Quite possibly the best thing that ever happened to me.

At my current place you get an extra 2 days holiday after 5 years, a nice framed certificate, and a mention in the company newsletter.

At 15 years I got a payrise, which meant I was on a higher rate than my supervisor, who'd only been in 5 yrs. At 20 years I got a medal from the Queen. At 24.5 years I got a chest X-ray, which I failed, a week later I was in civvy street with an index linked final salary pension. A month later my old mob went on strike for weeks, won a pittance of a pay deal and were royally screwed over long service awards and pension rights.

beer Cheers, lads
