Emsman, I will get my dad to bring the bits when i see him on the 15th nov. It will be an interesting car load to transfer from his car to mine in a hotel car park. Axle, steering rack, gearbox, chain and pulleys from an old lawnmower and a freshly killed pig. hehe

I will be around later that week. I'll drag this thread back up when I have the bits or I'll email you.

not too bad thanks.

Wondering when I might manage not smashing myself up for axweek or so though!

It would be a welcome change.

My knuckles are piss poor since I got run over some years ago.

With some irony, that's the reason I opened the fuel with my right hand on burns night (as it's now known!)

Had them popped back into place this morning, really really painful, but in the overall scheme of things I suppose it's not too bad.

Project update:

Finally got the bits out of the shed at the old house.

Looks like Xmas is cancelled this year.

The bulkhead is warped, a couple of key bits ate damp and it's not looking good.

I still have the plans, but neither the money to buy new MDF, the means to transport it home, or due to falling down stairs yesterday, the dexterity to make a new one from scratch- which would be doable if a push.

Next plea: does anyone have a sheet of moisture resistant MDF going spare (along with 28 ft of 1 inch batten)?

Only kidding. Going into the garden/shed now to see what can be salvaged.

Bloody kids, I was happy with action man

i have some spare mdf, but not sure i trust you to cut it!

seeing as one of today's news stories is about that open source car project, how about you send us a piece of the pattern each and we post you back a cut and sanded component?

having scratched my head (and smacked my ear on the shed door causing bleeding and foul language) the sides seem ok, as do the wing panels etc.
The problem area is the bulkhead as the screen sits on it. It's really warped so I'm going to clamp it tonight to see if I get get it back anywhere near straight.
If not, I shall have to attempt to disassemble the whole thing in order to put a new panel in.

My offer of spraying has also fallen through, so if the offer of a spray is still on, I may ask for help on that front too.

Can't post a picture as I'm using a sodding iphone

Sounds dangerous to me!

I'll do it but only if he promises to stand well away!

This sounds like a brilliant idea. Make 2 kits and you can sell one to help fund the other.

I'm in.

yep from me. have got enough MDF for a couple of panels I reckon and if i saw a full set of plans would be tempted to scale them up to a shirt sized version smile

it'd be like those magazines where you pay £900million over 2800weeks and end up with a poxy RC subaru, but much much better!

i'm sure my dad has plans for a wooden speedboat somewhere as well......

I have the benefit of being unemployed and partially lame so will attempt to crack on in the morning.

Now, where did I put my power tools???

All joking aside, anyone that can/ does help in any way whatsoever is reminded that I only have my lad once a fortnight fir the weekend.
Anyone that wants to take it for their own kids is welcome to borrow it in the days inbetween.

I have some plywood lying around from when I did the bathroom floor. It should be enough to make a bulkhead. (Scaled roughly in my head)

Are the plans email-able? If not PM me for my address. I could deliver a bulkhead along with everything else when I get it.
