If call centres phone me and wont take no for an answer Id usually just say "oh hang on theres someone at the door" and set the phone beside a speaker and leave it there until later.

I've had a few calls over the past week that have opened with 'This isn't a sales call...' - which is as far as I let them go before hanging up. Do they really think people are that stupid?

Don't bother answering - it was rhetorical (and the answer is yes - people really *are* that stupid)

As I sit in an office alone for long periods, I've taken to chatting to them. Nothing whatsoever to do with why they've rang, I just see how long I can have a random conversation for biggrin
