If you were in the shadow of the sun then there would be no "squish" to be had - the fecker would be solid - you'd be as well hitting a rock. The spacecraft would be finished if they collided at any sort of speed.

Speed kills...
Yeah but sometimes you can have a great time getting there..
Be honest here, that's you isn't it?

hehe

No but after a couple of bottles of cough medicine, the resemblance is startling.

Well I know a train can vapourise someone at 125mph so shouldn't be too hard with a space shuttle.
Have you actually witnessed this or are you talking out of your arse ?
It kind of does happen, they get sucked into the wheelsets and cycled through coming out as pulp rather than pieces.

Bit like a frog in a liquidiser then. Hardly vapourised though.

Is this human on the outside, or the inside, of said spacecraft?

I think he means - how fast would a human have to be going to splat like a bug does on your windscreen.
Intercity 125 does a fair splat from what I understand its messtastic. So assume 125MPH is fatal for the space shuttle impacting a person (Closing speed)

p = mv isn't it?

500,000kg x 55m/s vs. 75kg x 0 m/s = massive splatterfication.

Only complicated by the wheel factor as people can't float above the ground at train windscreen height unlike an insect. Suppose if you timed your jump off a bridge *just* perfectly...

hurl

This is why I do not envy train drivers when I hear of "one-unders" frown
