Yesterday Wales broke the Feb record for heat in Wales.

Today Wales has broken the UK record - 20.3 in Ceredigion

Noticeably warmer on today's dog walk than yesterday's. The cool breeze has gone and frankly it was HOT.

Downhill from here! Snow likely on the normal hills soon, with some cool conditions from the west.

I'm very reluctant to, because frankly we just don't now when we'll see temps like this again. At least in late March or April you have a shot at another 20 soon.

Well I'm not going to open a summer and sun thread - but obviously anyone else is welcome to!

The forecast doesn't go anywhere near another warm spell (quite the opposite - cool Atlantic weather is likely for a while).

Was fun while it lasted, but it was something of an extreme anomaly. 21 degrees in winter - nuts!

I admit it, I am interested in the weather. I like checking it. Often.

Keep being tempted to splash out on a weather station. Nothing overly flash; just something like one of the Oregon ones from Argos. Is it worth it or is it just a novelty and I can get more detailed and accurate information from the Met Office website?
They are great fun if you are a budding meteorologist - and you can usually get more info from one than online (ie you can chart the pressure as a storm rolls in for example).

That said - I haven't had a functioning weather station for around 5-6 years. Make of that what you will!

Very interesting and informative discussions, and it goes nuts when the snow potential rises...
Shame about the constant sniping that goes on frown

Storm Freya has been named. I suspect Midlands-ish will get the fastest winds, Scotland-ish will get the most rain.

Some cold and snow due in a week or so apparently.
According to the GFS - which I wouldn't rely on. If it does happen, most likely to be from the NW - so missing the entire south of England.

What happened to the amber-rated storm? Was that a GFS prediction?
Not sure - but overnight Sat-Sun it was clear it was going to weaker, not stronger.

Down in the South - I'm not getting excited. I hate cold rain!

Video in the tweet below shows the cold air moving across from N America. It also shows the coldest air washing out over the 'warm' Atlantic.

Some well get snow - but probably the hills, maybe Scotland.

As predicted, cold spell next week is watering down - now looking like only north/hills. Always happens!

Widespread snow everywhere north of Brum (and into South Wales) for tomorrow in to Monday. Limited disruption though.

Local fencing co just dropped a flyer through the door. That’s either an amazing coincidence or they were waiting for the perfect day to deliver them. I suspect they’ll be busy!
A week of wind storms coming up. There'll be plenty of broken fences and trees due to strong winds in many directions.

I have 4 flights this week. Sigh.
