Toiletries - why are male-marketed shower gels and deodorants/sprays so much worse smelling and shorter-lasting than those that are seemingly more 'feminine'?
Masculine shower gels tend to always be coloured blue (maybe occasionally green) and have the same generic overbearingly pungent scent, similar to Shield soap albeit with a slight twist, along with generic names / subcategories: refreshing, awakening, energising, aqua, cool etc.
Meanwhile, female body sprays and otherwise non-macho shower gels last a million times longer, have a vast array of actually pleasant scents and are just generally better. I would much rather smell of a concoction of something like passion fruit, elderberries, rose and sandalwood than whatever it is the 'blokey bloke' products are supposed to smell of for the best part of 5 minutes.
I go for a run most days. Most of the people I pass are dog walkers, the odd other one out for a run. I've noticed many's a time that women are often sprayed with scents that I can smell from a distance and I've rarely smelt a bloke passing them. Some of what women put on can hang in the air.Masculine shower gels tend to always be coloured blue (maybe occasionally green) and have the same generic overbearingly pungent scent, similar to Shield soap albeit with a slight twist, along with generic names / subcategories: refreshing, awakening, energising, aqua, cool etc.

However, that said I do remember some very smelly blokey stuff. I've bottles of aftershave that are over 20 years old, I rarely use the stuff but since it's a typical blokey present I've a drawer full of it. I still have cool water, Joop and Fahrenheit from the 90's in there. No Hai Karate from the 80's but I do remember the smell of it from the karate club I went to at the time and would know it a mile away. The smell of lynx Africa, layered on by some to hide the smell of smoking, is something I won't forget from school days.
I don't think it's an unpopular opinion but I agree that I've no time for much of the male marketing of smelly products. Every time a razor or shaving gel advert has some bloke trying to make it look macho I can't help funding it funny. But there's definitely a market for it and I reckon a large part of the market is wives who buy it for their husbands. I got bought a Clarins facial scrub recently, as a man with a 30 year old bottle of Nivea aftershave moisturising balm that I've not got to the bottom of I'm guessing it'll outlive me
Unpopular opinion, I'm happy enough to use deodorants and shower gels that can't be smelled hours later, I'm not keen on people trying to convince me that I need to smell like a lady of the night's handbag.
occasionally you do see mens' fragrances that are v strong. I recall Versace blue jeans from back in the 90s. That st was pungent. I think I even acquired it by someone else giving it to me because it was making them feel sick! I also have another one now called spice bomb which is in a bottle shaped like a hand grenade and you have to pull the pin to spray it... i'd say also fairly strong smelling.

Because marketing departments are either completely out of touch that men want this, or that men are so simple-minded and insecure that they want this crap.Masculine shower gels tend to always be coloured blue (maybe occasionally green) and have the same generic overbearingly pungent scent, similar to Shield soap albeit with a slight twist, along with generic names / subcategories: refreshing, awakening, energising, aqua, cool etc.

I buy Original Source as it lasts a long time and smells NICE.
Consider one of the reasons that women are usually more "smellable" from a distance is their use of conditioners on long hair. That seems to cling around much longer.

Molton Brown do several "masculine" fragrances, the scent lasts the longest of anything I've tried and the gel itself lasts for agers because you need to use much less. Expensive, yes, but I'll go through 3-4 Radox bottles to one Molton Brown. Lush are also pretty good as well as very environmentally/ethically friendly but doesn't last as long as Molton Brown I've found.

Yes, yes, yes! I was only thinking about this the other day whilst using my blue can of clean comfort deodorant. I mean wtf is clean comfort even supposed to mean & gives you no clue what it might actually smell like!?Masculine shower gels tend to always be coloured blue (maybe occasionally green) and have the same generic overbearingly pungent scent, similar to Shield soap albeit with a slight twist, along with generic names / subcategories: refreshing, awakening, energising, aqua, cool etc.

For those of a slightly older age Wyld Stallyns is the greatest band of all time, not. Just remembered how I hated the use of the word "not".For those of a certain age...
