tempted to go for the largest size, but at 50 quid, it's certainly frivolous. I'm not 10 and scared of the dark for a start. But I do like it as a concept. Anyone have any thoughts about these types of lights - quality, accuracy etc?

Frivolous indeed, but I am strangely drawn to a fully functioning 7 inch Mini Laptop:

I too am drawn to this sort of thing. For some reason I love the idea of tiny tech as I travel a lot and work remotely. However, the reality is its utterly useless and I long for a decent size display and keyboard - its the novelty of these tiny devices that make me yearn them however. At £375, its too much for something I would use down the pub a few times because I could - in reality this is no better than doing work on an iphone Plus size... I wonder if they do a chromebook equivalent...

The way that stuff like this might take off is:
  • Decent battery life, full O/S, 4G for when on the move.
  • Docking station to full monitor, keyboard and mouse at work and at home.
  • Now, you only have a small thing to take home each day, rather than lugging a full sized laptop / Surface Pro.
Since I do quite a bit of dual screen work, I would want a proper base unit for chunky tasks at work, then use this for the lower processor stuff. (Basically everything but massive spreadsheets / databases and coding.)

I bought an HP stream 7" win 10 tablet for £75 a couple of years ago. Nice little thing. That and a keyboard case and you get the same as the above for less than £100.

I bought a Canada Goose parka in a new style I'd be waiting for them to release for ages. It arrived. I hated it. I sent it back. Disappointing.

EXACTLY what I am after. I currently use a very old Lenovo X201 with a docking station and dual screen at my office and home office. Its small enough for travel and portable use (I use a tablet as the dual screen when working remotely) but a palm size thing would be even better sat in my jacket pocket.

Well, at least you are not £1500 lighter. That would have cheered me up no end.

Happened across this the other day, a VoBot Smart Alarm Clock. It has Alexa built into it but rather than saying the wake work you touch the top of the clock. Has all the functionality of the Echo, just without the voice control.
Coming to Amazon UK end of next month at £50 but currently on Deal Extreme for £32 delivered. It has a USB charger so no plug issues.

Same here, I made the mistake of clicking the link and now it's everywhere!

I'm only concerned it's actually bloody tiny and the plant in the background is some kind of miniature in order to make it look bigger

Just had a quick look on Ali and it's much cheaper. Nice thing, just no idea what I'd do with it

I've just accidentally bought a twin Xeon X5355 server motherboard that has 16 DIMM slots and can take up to 64GB of ECC DDR2 RAM to go in a 12 bay full tower case that I already own.

(In other news, I'll shortly be selling an HP N54L Microserver with 8GB RAM)
Hmm, could be time to upgrade the N40.

There's loads of different types on there that seem to vary in quality, size, lighting type, power source & colour. Which is kind of my problem.

I'd use it as just a light in the lounge. I'll put it on my table made out of an old engine block next the xbox, & playstation. I also have a G/F, honest!

Here's a more in depth review of the mini laptop. Want one, just don't know what I'd use it for.
