New Teaspoon Advice Please
Discussion
Need some slightly advice, chaps.
I need a beater. One to abuse, I care not for stirring ability, more the ability to crush 3 teabags at once. (I take my tea like I take my men.)
I 100 percent WILL abuse it. I want to. After protecting my others for so long from kids, dogs, tinkers, and the visit from Rushton's heavies, I want something to let loose on and just get the abuse out of my system.
The kicker? Cannot be metal. The thermodynamic sapping of tea temperature by being lazy and leaving the spoon in is unacceptable. Plastic is too weak in my experience.
Any suggestions?
Normal service may now resume.

I watched a show where Tony Robinson walks the Thames, and in one place where ancient rituals and sacrifices were made he decided to make his own sacrifice, a teaspoon. I am not sure of the make or model as watching him bend this poor helpless instrument of measure was too much, maybe one of you guys will be able to view this channel 5 monstrosity and fill us in.

Normal people - Using a Teaspoon to stir tea.
Blib - Using a Teaspoon to stir a swimming pool.
That will be one impressive vortex !
That’s not a swimming pool. That’s a modern take on an 18th century Italian apprentice stirring lagoon.Blib - Using a Teaspoon to stir a swimming pool.

In days of yore you’d never let a newbie loose with your latest creation on a cup where the danger of hitting the sides was very real and risking causing striations on your new spoon. You’d train them up starting with the stirring lagoon then moving onto smaller and smaller liquid containers until many years later the Spooning Grand Master would let you stir HIS cup of coffee thus passing your apprenticeship.
I do hope you haven’t actually put your body into the lagoon Blib? Grand Masters will be turning in their graves if you have. Sacrilege I tells yer.

It was a Flungstaffen 6/6ths. Supposedly one from his own personal collection. It’s a simple choice for the show due to the malleability of the shaft and the fact that his early onset arthritis meant he needed to be able to have something he could use without a ‘pre-bend’ (I consulted with the producers and explained that a pre-bend wouldn’t have the authenticity needed for such a high brow audience, I believe they spoke to Blib about it too but as always he was ‘pro-pre-bend’ and I think they decided he was just too extreme.
Anyways. It was an interesting snippet, cut down drastically from the 3+ hours of footage originally taken of the history of the Spoon involved etc.
Hello all.
Some of the longer serving members here will know of my challenges with cutlery and especially the spoonagery form.
For those who don’t my life outside farming has been devoted to spoons however in 2015 I developed a habit of throwing cutlery away after one use.
My lowest point was buying ASDA ‘basics’ cutlery pack in bulk and throwing them directly into the bin upon getting out to the supermarket car pack. I’d then sit in my car and sob while eating a 24 pack of Jaffa cakes.
The good news is however that I’m finally out of rehab, I’ve focused on the farming for a few months and today I took it upon myself to open up my spoon collection once again.
I look forward to many more years to spoonagery and hopefully see a few of you at Spoon Scoop 2019 in December.
Cheers
Gareth
