Brilliant. There are some real oddballs on there.

Match always had better results than POF for me. I gave up on POF after a couple of odd experiences.

Dyslexic typo, 63 I'd suggest.

Indeed. And this demonstrates the upper hand women have in the online dating arena, even a generous 5/10 such as the linked woman above probably gets so much attention that she doesn't need to message men in the first instance. Although now I write this I realise that out in the real world it is not so different either.
Meanwhile, someone will message her with the right tone, she'll bite and be getting boned by him a couple of weeks hence. No point moaning about the rules of engagement, it has ever been thus. She's fairly cute, so will be getting plenty messages. Dismissing as a 'generous 5/10' smacks of bhiness from the PH powerfully built director set who are no doubt Pitt/Clooney lookalikes....
It's not even that. It's the 'you looked at me so you must be interested' followed by 'silly bh cocktease' messages that women get from just, fking idiots.

The 5/10 comment, tbh and not necessarily aimed at the poster, but more at the people who think 5s are beneath them - if you're hanging on for a solid 9 a) bowling up on a dating site and b) out of all the possible matches finding you as her One, then you're in for disappointment, a lot of wking and plenty of weeping about how great it could have been while many others are having the chat and working out what the possibilities are.

Quite all-encompassing statement.

There will be a broad demographic on PH from some chubby hair thinning ginge who likes steam rallies to some dashing bilingual Aston driving director and a whole array in between. In the non-online world people seem to comfortably pair with someone at a similar nature and I don't see why one should change their audience online dating any more so than they would if out in a bar. Assuming that they themselves are being realistic over what they have to offer, why shoot low just because you are concerned over the competition and many others "working on possibilities"?

I appreciate there are both men and women out there unicorn hunting but, by and large, the criticism levied at them is that they are unrealistic in their own self-assessment. Assuming that is not the case, why not aim at suitable counterparts? Its only an issue IMO if they are delusional on their own appeal. In that regard, if they have any experience in the real world surely that should bring some equilibrium? Walk around any city centre and you will usually see couples broadly matched at their respective "levels" with the odd eyebrow raised at the mismatched couple where someone is clearly punching (or has a large bank balance).

I hate the term "punching" (not a dig at the above poster, I'm speaking generally)

Why should someone be punching, if they are deemed less attractive than their partner?
most people are not shallow and while a level of attractiveness does matter, being able to make someone laugh does not take a model-esque physique.

But regarding the above posts point, yes absolutely generally people go with their similar level.

You mainly see fatties with fatties for example. smile

Hmm, what's the dealio with OKC? I set up a pro there a couple of days ago and filled in all the drop down selection box thingies but not got round to uploading any pics yet. I have 6 messages already and bar 1 of them they all appear to be from real normal looking girlies that have proper profiles with normal looking pics of them cuddling their dog/cat etc, ie. not the predictable fake pics of a hot and ultra cute 20-something. Naturally you can't reply to any of them until you pay. Am I being hoodwinked POF-style? scratchchin

I set up an OKC profile earlier in the year. Could definitely reply to messages without paying. I'm not sure how rich the pickings are on there, but you can at least have a read through their answers to personal questions.

Trouble is it only gives me the first 15 or so words of their message and if I click on it to read the rest I get directed to the payment page "Upgrade now to read a mail from blah and other members!"

That's definitely not how it worked for me - I've not used it that much because I met someone in March but did have a conversation in September. It looked a bit like the messages in Facebook in the browser, with a pop-up window at the bottom of the screen. Can still see the whole conversation in full.
