Magoo, is the campervan taller than the lintel?

If it isn't, perhaps I'm being thick, but why couldn't the lintel remain in place?

I'm up and about again!!!

It's a good question glenrobbo, I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explanation, I still think beating the st out of it is a better answer!!! smile

It's a in situ cast lintol. What you're looking at is a complete cast square. The left and right columns and the across foundation are all cast together and interconnected with steel.

It has to be broke away bit by bit as its way to heavy to cut out in one piece. Then each end nipped off and made good to keep the uprights in situ.
I'm then extending the left and right walls forward 2 metres and casting a new structural square with a front gable above in order to house a new campervan.

Yes Glenners it's about 15 cms taller. In the photo you will see I've inserted a load bearing lower purling before I started the demo.

When I've built the extension part I've got a bit of a conundrum. Construct the new lintol at the right height, allow for a gable no higher than the existing roof ridge but also create enough height in the lintol area to install an electric powered roller shutter door. Preferably internal. But there are no reveals if you notice.
If it has to be an external mounted shutter then I still need 35cm right across from the lowest part of the lintol. With it being a tapering gable it may be troublesome.
It may be that I need to construct the new side walls higher than existing to achieve the 35cms. Which will make cutting in the new gabled roof and valleys into the existing interesting.

Lady Slopes had gone out by the time i got home.
She called me when she was on her way home* and her comment was, i bet you're gonna kill me for this.

Really?? What good will me jumping up and down, shouting and swearing do? It wont fix the car will it? It wont stop me having to pay out the excess for a new bumper will it?**

* despite her previous comments of she is always tired after working so hard blah blah always in pain from being on her feet yada yada, she has taken on another job. ***

** She has made a good job of it but i still don't understand how she managed it with a reversing camera and parking sensors rolleyes

*** no, i'm really not kidding

I think that's the part I'm struggling to understand slopes, both parking aids available and yet a broken bumper.

Evening all.

Been a long day sorting out the timesheets.

I got home and went for a bike ride.

My youngest then went out and met her friend.

They went to the park where her friend got stuck in a child’s swing.

Fire brigade were called.

I’m knackered and Snoop Dog is farting.

His limp is a lot better, he will go out for a short walk tomorrow.

That’s all.

Wife asked me to go down and I said your coming with me.

She didn’t like that the lazy cow, I explained I didn’t want to go on my own and maul a 14 year old girl I didn’t know etc.

Anyway she showed her arse and went down there on her own.

I transferred my banking and credit card apps onto my new phone.

I reset my old phone and gave it my daughter ( eldest) I will trade her phone in at CEX on Saturday.

I’m also going to dig that wheel out of the shed, get the tyre removed and get the rim welded and put it on eBay.

Nite nite Trivialites. I’m absolutely shattered with this cycling thing.

Making me really tired.

ION I ordered loads of new uniform for work.

My trouser I ordered 36 short.

The length is perfect but I’m about half an inch off fastening the fking things.

I’m torn between sending them back or keeping them as I’ll fit in them eventually.

Anyway nite nite. wavey

We've watched Magnum P.I and NCISLA, I think we're about to watch Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and I'm on the whisky!!

My Team leader was telling me today about getting in trouble with his daughter yesterday for getting his grandson filthy after taking him to the park and playing tag with him, apparently grandad (my team leader) was it and was chasing his grandson when he slipped up in some mud, grandson thought this was hilarious and joined him in the mud!!! rofl
