Couple of inches here in the Peaks. Very windy and had two smallish holly trees come down.

This really annoys me more than it should, I know. The “it’s only 1 day a year” lot would shut me down, but lorries should be on fking winters.
Not sure if serious… winter tyres won’t make a huge difference when you’re trying to pull up to 44 tons up hill

I got a text from my Mum saying the power will be out for 24hours until they get it fixed and some trees are down because of the wind.

Bit windy last night in South Wales but calmed down now and crisp blue skies. Bloody cold mind you.

Winter tyres (or M+S, Mountain symbol) are a legal requirement on trucks in many EU countries over winter.

Maybe so, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get stuck!

Off for a walk around Kinder Scout tomorrow (Sunday). Think it's gonna be a cold one!

Pretty windy and cold where I am (Beeston, just outside Nottingham). Got a feeling we may be missing a few roof tiles as it was blowing a proper gale overnight.

Yeah nothing is ever 100%, but as above they are required in other countries for HGVs. Anything over 3.5t in Germany for example. It would help and who knows, the M62 might not have been blocked by lorries last night.

it only takes 2 bmws or mercs on summer tyres infront of a lorry to get stuc then no ammount of winter tyres will get you past.

I’m sure they’d appreciate a little nudge up the hill smile

Little bit of rain in north Essex this afternoon and it's getting a little blustery, but obviously won't be as bad as the north last night!

That looks bad, hope the occupants (if any) were OK?

Gable end of the roof strewn across Blackpool prom

The building is in the background of this somewhat older pic after another storm...

Aberdeenshire still bad, and heavy snow showers continue, although the wind has dropped. Deeside from Torphins west as far as we went to Ballater has no power or phones, every shop closed. Best update for a fix is 10pm tonight. Trees down all over the place. We have retreated to a hotel in Aberdeen.
Whilst still at the house rescued first delivery driver of the season from the drive. The tyres on his Transit were as slick as a Pirelli medium after 40 laps, he had no chance.
