A couple of fault codes used when I was in network support

HRC = High Resistance Contact = cable fallen out
VHRC = Very High Resistance Contact = cable missing

Used that one way too often, Code 18 and ID-ten-T are going to be brought into circulation now.

A few years ago after a new software release our support stats showed a sharp increase in the number of calls categorised as UI errors. UI errors were meant to be user interface problems, spelling mistakes, fields overlapping, that sort of thing. It turned out that someone in support had told a new recruit that UI meant ‘User Idiocy’ and she had been happily classifying all sorts of things as UI.
