Wir kamen zu dem Schluss, dass Sie sie gestohlen haben.Anyone else feeling particularly underwhelmed by the world of spoons at the moment? I can't put my finger on it, but I've lost a fair bit of interest. The next iSpoon? So what? Yawn! Blib's got yet another prototypen, double yawn. Where's the excitement? The innovation? The craftsmanship? White, on a contract, with stirring limits and a guaranteed minimum future value of SFA, service plans and connectivity options. Is this what it's coming to? So depressing!

I share your view. The drive to eliminate craftsmanship and replace it with bling is endemic.Blib's latest inspired cunning plan to give away Krupp branded shiny plastic stirware with 20 litres of diesel is a clear example of this dumbing down.
I think it is time the closed group was purged. It's becoming a bit council. If that is seen as eliteist, so be it.
Can't remember the last time I had an enjoyable stir, competitive or recreational.
The "shine" has certainly gone off our delightful pastime over the last few months.
Spoon Digest was remarkably thin this month too didn't you think?
I must be getting old, but I'm considering selling up all my classics and just getting a modern canteen and be done with it all.

Speaking of shine. I will be hosting a four hour long talk at the Ye Olde Spon Lodge in January about Patina, everyone is welcome*
Is it the graceful process of ageing which can tell a 1000 stories and conjure whimsical thoughts of who has stirred with it in the past, or is it just a manky old spoon?
- except the Blib for obvious reasons.

A programme worth looking out for, I think you’ll agree, shining a light on some of the more unsavoury aspects of the nature of one of our contributors ‘Shining beacons of excellence’. It will no doubt be fun watching him tie himself in knots trying to defend the indefensible No doubt the words ‘following, just’ and ‘orders’ will be scattered about liberally.

Fellow Spoonists
I am proposing we offer this learned gentleman the position of Honorary Professor of Stirring and Chairman of our little gathering.
He clearly seems to display a rudimentary grasp of the problems of our sport.
And, he's Swiss - not German....
And, he now has a couple of bob too.

"Hairer landed the prize for his work on stochastic analysis, a field that describes how random effects turn the maths of things like stirring a cup of tea"

If it's random, some sort of fractal, whether this guy has mapped it or not (DEVS style), where does skill then come into it? Surely this invalidates everything we stir for?
Are you trying to posit this entire thread as a figment of our imagination? If it's random, some sort of fractal, whether this guy has mapped it or not (DEVS style), where does skill then come into it? Surely this invalidates everything we stir for?
Collective hysteria?
Herd mentality?
Crowd psychology?
Opinion leadership?
One of his equations above, frankly nothing you wouldn’t find littering the floor on a scrunched up piece of A4 at the close of your average spooning competition. Standing on the shoulders of giants springs to mind and I do recall a similar looking chap lurking in the the background of a competition in Zurich last year.
