Thanks for all the input re. my post above. I needed a few days to clear my head. We can't bring ourselves to abort although we booked the appointment initially we've now cancelled it as we just can't bare the thought of essentially ending a life for the sake of it being 12 months too early. We'll be due our 2nd around 20th April all being well smile

Congrats. You’ve done it once. The second is much easier albeit no less tiring.

For us 2 was more like 3.

No surprises on the basics (so that is/was easier) but very different personalities...

That said, the eldest didn't sleep through until 3 and a half (now 7) and the youngest (3) hasn't slept through yet...

Our first is a walking tornado so our second is comparatively easy thankfully. Couldn’t physically be possible for it to be harder for us I don’t think!

Other way round for us. First was calm, relaxed, chilled, able to focus fo a long time.

Second one is a force of nature. Doesn't go round things, doesn't go over them, goes through them.

I have our second down as child most likely to be a global dictator.

Our first child: OMG don't fall! OMG what's happening, do we call a doc, is this normal?

Our second: Is it bleeding or liable to fall off? No? You'll live.

Wonderful news. Even though we don't know each other and probably never will, I'm so pleased to hear that. Our two are 15 months apart - I'm looking forward to them getting a little older and enjoying watching them play together. My eldest (girl) is so sweet loving on her bro...but I think that may change once he starts to be mobile hehe

Did you bring her back again?!
Hah, Yeah. Flight back was overnight again, and was easier than the first. I suspect because she knew what to expect.

Needed to show birth cert, marriage cert, and proof of UK residency to SA border guard on way out. They seem to be all over small children leaving the country.

As for the roof-box question, we have one that used to live on the car permanently. It was handy to keep the buggy in, and the travel potty. It was a Thule that could open either side, so quick easy access and my boot stays tidy/not filled up with a push chair

This might be helpful to some Expectant dads. A widwife friend shared this new about Leeds hospitals which might mean the same thing is happening in your trusts too.

Thats great news, luckily I was able to get into the 12 week scan but have had to rely on free photo print outs since then! ours is due in 2 weeks so no more meeting baby until she pops out.

I’ve not been able to go in to any scans yet. We opted to have private ones so that I could attend. Well worth it.

no idea..... great news. I think that you made the right choice. smile

Thanks chaps, I've come to terms with it now and feel much more positive and even getting excited smile

Keep thinking, in 2 years or so time it'll be well worth the hard work initially to watch them fight play and entertain each other smile

Talking of fighting/playing together, the rougher the 3 year old gets with the 6 month old, the more the 6 month old laughs.

Gently rock him, he cries. Big sister full body slams him with a pillow, shrieks of laughter.

Went for a private 8 week internal scan/reassurance examination yesterday, it didn't go as I hoped.

They measured the fetus as 5 weeks and although she thought she saw a very faint heartbeat she wasn't sure, to say it was a punch in the face was an understatement.

We've worked out the dates however and 5-6 weeks is more like how we've worked it to, it was the midwife that suggested it to be more like 8 because it goes off the previous period.
I can't get my head around how they can count weeks where the sperm was still in my ball bag !

We've booked another private scan for 2 weeks from now to remeasure/look for a heartbeat, I've a feeling this will be the longest 2 weeks of my life !
She is still showing all symptoms and feelings so we remain hopefully and being a positive as we can

I've been there, as have a few others and yes, it's going to be a long two weeks. If you have any mates who've gone through a miscarriage, or indeed just come on here, be sure to chat about it yourself. The one thing I found was there was lots of support for the mother and zilch for the father. Fingers, toes etc. crossed for you.
