Fairly standard experiment in year 7 or 8 electricity (or was, when I taught it): Three 1.5V C size cells, a few strands of wire wool and a pair of leads with croc. clips. Not dis-similar to what would happen to any light bulb filament if it weren't surrounded by inert gas instead of air and its oxygen.

Erm, no the thin wire wool has high resistance and this causes the heat build up, enough to cause the combustion/melting. Same as thin MIG wire melts from the heat of high resistance.

Hmm I would have thought low resistance incurring high current flow.

Think of a fuse, a 25A fuse is thick, a 3A fuse is thin, therefor wire wool (extremely thin) will go quickly but unlike a fuse it is much, much longer so just keeps 'going'

I would expect the gun has been twisted sideways and out of the bad guys grasp. It's in the kickers hands pretty much as sooh as it reaches chest level.

It's not though is it? That's why the attacker's arm jerks downwards because he still has hold of it. How much control is debatable but you don't want to be pointing a loaded gun at yourself do you, ESPECIALLY if someone else is anywhere near the trigger!

No idea what it's from, it wasn't my gif.
