What utter bks.
The most likely scenario is the the High Pressure that is anchoring itself to the east remains in control, giving us cold but settled weather. The only way we'll see snow from the setup that's moving into place would be in the High Slips a little further East and North, allowing any Atlantic loss to create a battleground over the UK.
The Alps are in trouble with the warmest start to a season for years and no significant snow forecast until well after Christmas

They're not too bad, as they are high enough to be cold enough for artificial snow making facilities to run pretty constantly. Have a look at some of the lower towns such as Megeve and they are looking very green. The freezing level was something like 3600m a few days ago!
I went in Easter last year and it was perfect but we used to go at Xmas and it was fine. Not worth the risk these days especially if booking ahead of time more than a couple of weeks.Last minute is the way forward for safety.

On a scale of 1 to 'to be expected', what is the amount of bullst in that article?http://www.express.co.uk/news/weather/742699/Snow-...
Next week's high pressure across Europe doesn't look like it will withstand the Atlantic for long. Christmas period is looking likely to be influenced by the Atlantic, although the money is on something more polar maritime than from the SW.
Polar maritime would of course bring chances of snow for NW areas, particularly elevated locations.

Liam Dutton has put together a GIF illustrating how one model has had wildly different predictions for Dec 23rd over the last 2 weeks:

turns out it's actually snowing here. Just those microflakes that you catch glimpses of every now and then, like a very light drizzle. There's meant to be a few flurries today, but no accumulation.
-11c now. Had to go to the post office, and fill up, which was a bit chilly.
Proper snow due Friday evening.
