Hmmm, the 25% off still works, but KG have cranked a lot of the prices up since I posted.
Many barker models were shown as about £165 BEFORE you got a further 25% off when doing the code. Now, most of them are listed at the usual RRP of £220.
Damn, I should have snapped up those tan and blue suede McCleans while they were dirt cheap!

Well... I had already had a couple of pairs, supplied as part of my job, and they were the most comfortable shoes I had ever had. I always struggled with shoes... I was born with defects in both of my ankles and I found these really good, they are designed for walking (hence postmen use them) So when the opportunity came up to buy 10 pair, I did, and they have served me well. Not a fashion statement no, but practical, comfortable, and cheap footwear.
As an aside, I was booked in for surgery on my ankles 15 years ago... but it would have been 6 months recovery on each leg... 4 to 6 separate operations... success rate of 80%, but that was for each leg... So I had a third opinion from a top orthopaedic consultant and he said leave it alone due to the risk of failure (first one said leave it alone... second said operate) So I consigned myself to a life of knee, ankle and back pain and pain killers if I walked far...
Then two years ago I went to see a guy who made Orthotics... I had already had LOADS made in the past on the NHS, none worked, some made things worse. This guy used new technology... a 3D scan of my feet, with the insoles milled on a machine out the back... It was expensive, but I gave it a go.
The first insoles were a revelation. I went from suffering quite severe pain after walking 1 mile in a day, to being able to walk 5 miles with greatly reduced pain! I was happy, but he wanted to try to improve it more... so he made me another set, with more correction, but these were a step to far, but the third set were perfect. On holiday I was walking 10 miles a day, with virtually no pain.
Its a life changer for me... I have just gone 60 and wish I had found this guy earlier in my life...
whilst i now feel a tiny bit [and i mean tiny, this is PH] remorseful for the mockery, i have to wonder if you had such difficulty walking why the fk you took a job working in a warehouse. reminds me of my british steel days where one of the guys had a crush injury to his hand so they made him a storeman. poor bugger couldn't lift anything.

This post is amazing.
As for content. Me and the Mrs are currently wearing...
Loake 1880/Louboutin.
I also have a preposterous sneaker collection but I don't think it'd interest anyone here, haha!

I've looked at these again and they really are truly awful! Shockingly bad.... Whilst I understand the 'medical' need for them, have you tried the decent insoles and adjustments that you have said made a hell of a difference in 'proper' shoes? Or even shoes that just look a little less 'special'?
And at Weddings with a suit??
Your wife must really love you! (See; there is always a silver lining! )
Staying on the theme of "medical"/NHS shoes, here are a pair of my latest modified shoes. When I was young I had a condition called Pethes disease which affects the hip, which in my case resulted in a leg length difference of 25mm (other than that I am fine). When I was young the standard practice was to glue a big bit of rubber onto the sole of your shoe, but now they have refined their methods (I wear a heel insert and get 15-17mm built up outside. I bought these (amongst others) in a sale at a Nike outlet in Florida at Christmas ($35) and have only just got around to picking them up from the hospital that modified them - (the modified shoe looks "bigger" in the picture than it does in reality, honest!)

I wear my cherry red doc marten boots most days of the week.
Docs rock. I posted a lovely pair of high heeled DM shoes earlier in this thread which caused a minor storm in a teacup. BTW AshB, tell your wife, those Louboutins are lovely!

Not going to ask what they cost you! Not my cup of tea at all but having watched Aliens the other evening, a big from me. Where they a standard Reebok item at the time or were they specially produced for the film? Stay frosty! How much were they?
I wonder how many pairs will be worn and how many will end up boxed as collectors items

They were £130 from Reebok on Tuesday. Worth somewhat more than that now How much were they?
The funny thing is, they actually look really comfortable and I'm sure the ludicrously high top could be concealed under jeans quite well.
