5) Your limit is £10. You place a snipe on the item for £10... Someone else offers the seller £8 to sell off ebay and because there are no bids they do.
Possibly the only good reason for bidding early is to prevent that, as once there's a bid the seller can't sell early.Whats on Second said:
people on ebay who have been watching the bid-less item for 2 days 23 hours and 59 mins then participate a frenzy of bids in the last 30 seconds.
is there logic in this, an advantage, or is it just the thing one does ?
snorts of derision from grizzled ebayers when a rookie admits to bidding after an hour
My understanding of it is that you don't want to ramp the prices up before the end of the auction, let alone with days to go. is there logic in this, an advantage, or is it just the thing one does ?

So you tend to notice the bids start flying in, in the last 5-10 minutes. I tend to set myself a limit on an item that I'm not willing to go over. I'll submit that in the last 5 seconds, if I win I win and have picked items up for less than my bid, there's also no temptation to creep up and go, 'It's only X amount more'.
The tenants 2 doors down thinking my front lawn is the pathway to the communal car park at the side of my house.. thing is even if I explained why this pees me off they don’t understand English very well so it’s a lost cause. I am now actively encouraging my son to trample their front lawn with his balance bike each weekend. Maybe that will work
I recently advertised a watch on eBay. I started at a price which made it the cheapest on the site, and set a 7 day auction.
I got some bids, which were then cancelled, and followed up with a low offer - 50% of my starting price. I rejected the offer, so it was increased by £1. I rejected it again, and it was increased again. After four or five rounds of this, I delisted the item. I then got an email asking what my best price was.
Bunch of s. eBay used to be useful.

Websites whose entire reason d'etre is to facilitate the booking of properties for holidays but which can't tell you the dates when a particular property is available. I've seen a really nice villa in Tenerife that I'd like to book. I'm flexible as to when I go. I put in my first choice of dates - 'Sorry the property is not available on the dates you've chosen'. I put in another date - 'Sorry the property is not available on the dates you've chosen'. I put in a third date - 'Sorry... [and so on and so forth]'. CAN'T YOU JUST fkING TELL ME WHEN THE fkING PROPERTY IS AVAILABLE SO WE CAN AVOID THIS fkING CHARADE. It's amazing how many otherwise very slick and well-put-together booking websites don't let you do this.

Or the alternative of asking me (the seller) a list of questions / more image requests etc in the dying seconds of the auction assuming I'm sat there poised to go!Roger Irrelevant]Websites whose entire reason d'etre is to facilitate the booking of properties for holidays but which can't tell you the dates when a particular property is available. Not an unreasonable annoyance IMO. You see somewhere you like, you can go anytime, so when is it free? Roofless Toothless said:
I don’t like cherry blossom trees mainly because my missus goes absolutely ga-ga over them, oohing and aahing, taking photos and sending them to everybody. I think they are gaudy tasteless things, the arboreal equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel.
They look OK for about a day and then gradually dump all their blossom everywhere, then the leaves curl up and die and slowly drop off. Combined with the sap and little bugs that also fall off the horrible things, they are just nasty.21st Century Man said:

Is the blossom dropping in all the vents and blocking them up ? And is the blossom sticking to the paint and drying and sometimes marking it ? Because it will you know ....Airport car parking charges, AKA overly clever s and their stupid pricing "algorithms"
Checked last night to see the price for a forthcoming trip & get a quote of about 55 quid from a variety of operators
Go back tonight & they've all gone up to nearly 70 quid!!
What the juddering fk? Seems as though the closer you get to the departure date so the price goes up.
Its utter bks for something like car park charges.
You really cannot catch a break or get a fair deal in this country, some is always doing their best to fk you over.

Amazon, again. A few weeks ago they decided me using my own card to top up was fraud, so that was a saga to get my account unlocked. Last night I order 2 items, the first goes through fine. The second gets cancelled because of suspected fraudulent activity, and I get an email saying they are cancelling my balance and threatening to close my account.
