Nature, you scary #9876: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSgSMZsMh4A - Storm Imogen hits French coast.

Shows how easily a little surge can overpower people who would appear to be pretty safe.

The drama starts about 2mins in. (They all survived).
holy st!

I didn't think that was going to end well, especially for the first bloke, despite your assurance.

If they got their act together they'd sell a ton of those in the states and EU.

Probably some embargo on though,

I don't know that that's fair. I think it went from "bugger, we're going to get a bit wet" to potential tragedy surprisingly quickly. Imagine it was your Other Half that got swept off her feet: are you saying you would have tried to retrieve her, or stood safe and watched her get swept out to sea?

Call me old fashioned but I'd have been happier just watching her dance for a few minutes.

That was daft. The first person just let herself get swept away, floating on her back, then the person in yellow stood for ages just watching them whilst they basically just sat in the sand, neither of them getting up and getting to safety when the surge died down. Lastly, why the fk would you just film that st rather than helping out?

I got the feeling the person in the white jacket was quite old and too weak to do anything about it. Also would answer why they couldn't just get up and move when the surge went back. As for just filming who knows

I think the wind was knocked out of those two people and presumably they got a lungful or water/sand when being pushed around. Of course, here at PH, we all know that a goateed company director with a gym-honed bod would have leapt to safety within an instant. But I posted to show that lesser mortals are more easily overpowered.

(I think from the French discussion the cameraman was disabled - wheelchair?)

Don't be, it didn't stop him sitting there filming at the time did it? I appreciate he couldn't do much but continuing to film...seemed as bad as many others who would rather film than save/help someone.

Is it really that bad? Showing it to others can be a lesson learnt.
