I like that!

Don't tell her it's for beer, tell her it's an integrated coffee machine that just happens to pour cold beer by mistake.

I'm sort of interested in these keg beer solutions, I like a proper ale from time to time, and a cold lager on a hot day provides a lot of satisfaction. I feel there will be a sort of consolidation in the industry, and unless you're lucky, you'll end up with a useless machine that isn't supported anymore.

I dislike the "razor and blades" pricing model too, which may well be prevalent in this market place as well.

I haven't ordered one yet. But debating picking up one of these. Although the small Keg size is putting me off. Has anyone bought a home dispenser? Quite fancy one for BBQs & Poker nights...

£2.49 a pint? it's cheaper to go to the pub once you factor in the electricity to cool the stuff down.

Given that a few have said these crop up discounted often I am going to wait for a price drop and get one of these I think. Damn this thread.

Indeed, never pay full price for it, plenty of times it is discounted through the year.

The beer is silly expensive in the UK though as, for some reason, they don't push the PerfectDraft there.

On the continent you can buy the kegs in supermarkets and the cost can be as low as £1.65 a pint once the refund for empty kegs is factored in, something which is hard/expensive/impossible in the UK AFAIK.

Great bits of kit though, great choice of beers and always a lovely drop.

Edit: Just checked and although Beerhawk (and maybe others) do returns, it's by mail so the cost is obviously covered in the original keg price. £30-35 with £5 back (in vouchers!) is a bit away from €15-20 with €5 back in cash at the same shop you buy them from.

I want one, but I’d get through a keg a week. That’s £120/month....

Actually maybe that’s a saving scratchchin

20% off if you buy 4 and £5 back for each keg ( free returns ).

With Beer Hawk you just stick them in the box they supplied and take back to a Collect+ location. I've done it loads of times and always get the credit in my account.

So £76..

The credit does persuade you to keep buying beer though!

When you say on the continent - which countries are you referring to our of interest. Any idea if Spanish supermarkets stock them?

Mind you, a pint there is only about €1.50 so again any saving against the local bar remains proportionality minor!

I've just picked up a 'Sub Compact' for about £40 even though I have a Perfectdraft that doesn't get enough use. It was only £40, so only qualifies as frivolous on the basis I really didn't need it.

I'm mainly an IPA/pale ale drinker but lagers and Belgian beers tickle my fancy from time to time and it is nice to have them out of these machines. It's not 'real' draft beer, but it is slightly better than cans and bottles. Deals come around from time to time, but it will never be as cheap as on the continent where the 6L Perfectdraft kegs can be as cheap as €20 including deposit and are freely available in supermarkets.

This is worrying! I bought some Bluetooth in ear headphone a couple of weeks ago for running, worn them once, the battery bit flaps about too much for running, I need to try some different ones but they need to be noise isolating.

I’ve got some Sony noise cancelling cans and I’m very impressed with them, might have a look at the WF-1000X. Thanks for the help chaps!
I’ve got a pair of the MDR-1000Xs. Love them.

I also had a pair of leophile zero neckband noise cancellers which did a very good job and sounded superb - hence the frivolity. I’ve gifted those to a mate.

Once I’d worn the Sony’s to the gym a couple of times it was a no brainier. They are ideal for it.
I didn’t get any, just as well Costco have the Sony’s in for £120 from Monday...

There is a whole thread on here about DE shaving.... I use a traditional razor, the blades are pennies each and shave far better than cartridge things.

Is that to help me end my friendless existence? redface

WRT to the razor and blades pricing model, I was referring to the pricing strategy of making the machine cheap, often sold at a loss, and all the profit being from the refills, of which only one option is available. See also printers and coffee pod machines...

A pint in a pub here is £8-9 and those things would sell like hotcakes.

However, i dont understand why you’d stop going to the pub due to this alone. You dont go to pubs because theyre cost effective
