I've used all three, dorco is probably the best daily driver of them for me. I've not used feather for a while, I'm curious to see how they feel after a few years absence.
I've not ever tried Dorco. Feather are my go to blade at the moment. I did use the Gillette 7 O'clock blades for a while but they get blunt quickly.

I've still got some of the 7 O'clocks. It was a very comprehensive sampler pack.

If you try the Dorco blades, I prefer the ST300 over the ST-301.

Flippin' heck, just stumbled on this thread, didn't realise that shaving was such a minefield ....

Curiously it seems that my "setup" mostly unchanged for the last 20 years seems to (sort of) match a lot of others here.
...
I once ran out of shaving foam, so just washed my face thoroughly with hot water, rinsed the razor with hot water and discovered there was no need to use any foam or anything to shave.

Still using a Gillette mach 3 too. No brush or anything else.

This stuff is great as a backup and only £1.

Same technique with a safety razor, no problems at all. A couple of minutes and it's all done, no messing with brushes and lather.

Even cold water works fine, just ensure that the skin is good and wet.

Feathers. As good as I remember. Blood on the first shave, also something I remember.

Admittedly only a pore, and gone in a heartbeat, but totally expected.

Good shave. Will use for a while. Mainly because I've 50 of them.

I've something like 300 blades to get thorough.

You should try a feather blade in a Mühle R41. Very unforgiving if you aren't careful. biggrin

Feather are just superb, I don't know why I'd want anything that's blunter and as I understand it none are sharper.

I've grown a full beard now, thanks to lockdown last year. Split in half and in a shavette, edging and cleaning up my neck is like a hot knife through butter. Literally cannot feel a single hair being cut as simply nothing 'pulls'.

If I'm brave, I'll try them in the merkur futur smile I'm running them in the slant bar right now; of the 4 handles I've got, that's the one I prefer the most.

I use them in my Futur on number 2. Very rarely get a cut and only a nick if I do.

Pfft...feathers are for girls. I use the Turbo BladeThroat 5000, the ones with the spike thrusters on the handle for added grip even in the slipperiest of situations.

Have been using a Wilkinson Sword Classic for a few years... today the R94 Muhle Rocca (matte stainless) or R96 Muhle Rocca (stainless / Black handle) caught my eye.

How do these compare? Both closed comb but is the Muhle more precise / better in noticeable way?
I had this same question, and ended up jumping in and buying a R94, which I have now been using for the past few months. It's definitely more aggressive/efficient than the R89, but certainly not overly so. Build quality is excellent, and it's very nice to use.

My Trumper Skin Food West Indian Lime is running out. It's been fine and lasts for years but I fancy a change. Any alternatives worth trying?

To save me going through 300 pages what blades ya'll recommending for a double edged safety razor?

The fake branded ones I got for free with the aliexpress handle are now done and needing replacements.

Bit of a minefield for a newbie - 20 blades can cost anything from £5 to £25 and everything in between....

EJ89 razor & Feather or Personna blades is a kit that seems almost a default (and is what I went back to after a short dalliance with a Futur).

Brush & soap to taste - I use a Muhle synthetic brush with Poraso sensitive.

Or more budget; merkur 34HD, feather blades, yaqi synthetic brush and soap of choice.

Last time I looked the merkur was cheaper than the DE89, and the Chinese synthetics are very impressive.
