Hmmm - what happens if it snows on election day? ECM chart beginning to move towards what the GFS already pointed out. Although the GFS is the most-often wrong chat! Current forecast (which will change) is for widespread snow across the Central Belt and Borders on the 12th.

Looks like it will be a cold one, anyway!

There was chaotic snow in Brighton within the lifetime of this thread and its predecessors. Buses were failing on the hills. I remember it...

The atmospheric patterns are VERY different to the norm. Which will make any downgrade even harder to stomach

A word of warning. The UKMO model is often the party pooper, and it isn't any where near as cold friendly this time: https://twitter.com/MattHugo81/status/120190249373...

I know little of these things , but he said earlier that it was a very strange pattern that he hadn't seen before, so room for some strange behaviour the models arent equipped for maybe??? Or is that just wishful thinking
Very sensible thinking. Models are programmed by humans to do what humans have experience of.

Just to clarify, we've stepped back from the amazing charts. We're still on the edge of something cold, with plenty of time for 'upgrades' (and downgrades)

I'm amazed how bad it is Pangbourne way. Haven't seen it this bad in a long while.

Half the (tasteful) Christmas lights along the gutter have detached from the gutter. The other half rolled up in to the gutter!

Some talk of a few wintry showers over the hills up here in the Peak District in the next few days. Nothing to cause any problems but it makes it feel a bit more like winter.

My eldest son is on a 5 day outward bound residential thing this week. He's going to be rock climbing, abseiling and river scrambling over the next few days. I don't think the temperature is going to be more than a degree or 2 above freezing. It'll certainly be a change from playing fortnite smile
Oof - just came in to talk about Friday. Another Atlantic gale, with quite a northerly component to it. Blizzards are a real possibility up high, up north. Currently snow even modeled for South Downs, Chilterns etc for brief periods.

True story. Me and three of my mates were camped at about 1,500ft in the Lakes doing our Duke of Edinburgh Silver expedition when Hurricane an extratropical cyclone, previously associated with Hurricane Charley hit. hehe

I can confirm the Peapod, that me and one of the lads were camped in, which twice tried to turn itself inside out during the night, is not a good tent for those conditions.
