sorry for that. Off topic but a simillar question:
do people find that those who boast of the large amounts they can drink, also have a pressing desire to force those around them to drink too? Even if those in their presence have no desire to drink.
I have a mate like this that seems to force you into drinking that little bit longer than you wanted to. He doesn't get out often though so he can be forgiven for it.sorry for that. Off topic but a simillar question:

See due to illness, I was tee-total for over 2years, and have never got back my penchant for booze or those little smokey soldiers of death. Which I'm cool with, just a fact of life. So I avoid both... with the odd lapse where I'll have 2glasses of pinot grigio with a meal when out, or on a bad day, accept a free silk cut from a colleague.
BUT what boils my piss beyond all belief is the 3 seperate circles of friends who ALL refer to me as "boring" because I won't "let my hair down" .... By this they mean drink until I vomit, and spend the next day resembling some prop from Waking The Dead.
3pints of lager will ruin the next day for me, and as me and the OH only get sundays together, why would I want a banging headache and a dose of the tom tits for that 1day a week~?
i don't drink that much and used to get a lot of hassle for not drinking, sometimes verging on personal insults. after a couple of years, they had all subsided and people appeared to accept that i just don't drinl that much.
recently moved to a new job and the whole process has had to restart - shocked faces, gasps, etc. "you don't drink!" "I should have asked you in the interview!" etc.
I used to think it was happening because of my age and as I got older, and the people I was with got older, this would go away but it doesn't.
It's really bizarre because as far as I am concerned it matters not one jot that I don't drink beer. To other people, when socialising, it really seems to upset them! I don't understand it, but it is continuously made an issue of.
as for your friends telling you "its gay" if you don't drink, or stop drinking for a bit, screw em. its "gayer" to think/say what they are! you went out to do what you want to do - not what your friends want you to do

surely you could stay out with him, but just not continue to drink alcoholic drinks?
Not worth staying out with him. I know my limits, he knows I know my limits plus the wife can go a little bit mental if I am late back. So all in all not worth hanging around for an extra few pints. Still doesn't stop him saying "Going on, one more for the road".Use Psychology said:

Indeed, hence why I have been nigh-on tee total since being able to "resume drinking".recently moved to a new job and the whole process has had to restart - shocked faces, gasps, etc. "you don't drink!" "I should have asked you in the interview!" etc.

I find the same as you regarding jobs... As a postgrad who's typically moved jobs two or three times a year, I find a complete wall of shock when the new work people discover that not only do I not drink, BUT even worse, I did 4years of uni dry as well.
Figured as I reached 25 it would die down..... But even at a wedding 2 weeks ago, there was this attitude of "you dont drink? weirdo"
In fact the other week in a pub that I'd driven to, one friend of a friend (upon seeing my j20) commented: "you been done for drink driving or summets?"

On occations when I don't drink, people have remarked that I do act differently and they prefer me with a beer.Cotty said:

Do they ask you what you want to drink, you reply "orange" and they then appear with a double vodka and coke though? before muttering "fking drink you puff"boils me. Ditching beer and junk food, I lost 6stone. gained 1 and a half through natural fluctuation. BUT by avoiding booze and takeaways Ive stayed healthy, so am I hell going to start necking 9pints a night to conform to society.

I used to go through half a bottle of vodka, beers and shots before heading out then be on beers/vodka/shots the whole night and occassionally didn't feel like I was drunk.
Now 2 beers at home get me tipsy.
Aged 18ish vs age 26
That is exactly how I was and am too!Now 2 beers at home get me tipsy.

I have also lost a significant amout of weight since i was 18 so I reckon that must have had a big effect too.
I'm a student so it's my natural born right to be an alocholic.
A friend and I matched each other drink for drink once and recorded the list on my phone.
I felt sick when I read the list in the morning: 9 pints, 1 bottle of champagne, 1 shot of Jaegermeister, 3 bottles of lager and an Irish coffee. Each! It was over a very long period of time though, from about 8pm to 3am.
As above though, sometimes I can have 5 pints and puke
Guiness is definitely the way forward for a session drinking pints.

Generally tee-total due to perceived alcohol intolerance, but the last couple of weekends I've had a couple.
Saturday night just gone, had a pint of vodka & coke before heading out, and a can of bread/piss water (Carling) in the car and was defo 'drunk'.
Cheap as chips =D
