Disposal of shotgun shells.

It amazes me that people who have no idea of the facts give their OPINION as though it is a fact!
So much rubbish posted on this thread.
Call your local police station and speak to their firearms dept. Don't give a name, and ask them if you wish to clarify the situation.
But seriously, just bloody slice the damn things and bin em!

ETA the shooting of the pin would need a perfect shot. We found that it wouldn't go off if the air rifle pellet hit the lip of the cap, the pin surround. To get a decent pop, the pellet needs to hit the pin 100% dead on.
They're centrefire rather than rimfire so that is correct.vinnie83 said:

As a SGC holder my opinion was based in fact.So much rubbish posted on this thread.

Shotgun shells can be held by anyone (not sure if there is an age limit on this, but given the OP it's unlikely he is a child anyway) in other words I can go shooting with anyone on here and they can go home with a few of my cartridges in their pocket accidentally and not be committing any offense at all. The same does not apply to "FAC" Ammunition eg. Rifle ammo.
It is an offense to sell shotgun ammo to someone without a license, so if the person with my cartridges went out to the pub and dodgy dave gave him a fiver for them without having a license then an offense had been committed at that point.
However the law has a very lax approach to shotgun cartridges, unlike FAC ammo they don't even need locking up, only placing somewhere secure.

I was referring to the people saying that the OP could do 4 years etc etc.
