Eric, this was the childhood of my mother’s parents. They married in Kiev shortly before coming to London in 1906. My family looked on Fiddler as a sort of personal history, and it had a special place in all our hearts, especially as Topol looked so much like my Grandfather, stocky and immensely strong.
