Switzerland's not in the EU.

But Denmark certainly enjoys similarly high social standards.

a popular theory is that only countries with monarchies can hope to be revolution-free, have long periods of peace and stability. nor be ravaged by invaders, the UK is cited as an example, but a very piss poor example, with UK participation in many wars all through the 20th century.

however Switzerland has managed to be a stable, prosperous peaceful country
since 1848, the year it became a republic.

wonder what the secret is.

As with most things in life, both Switzerland and Denmark (and the Netherlands?) seem to prosper by following what really should be rule #1 for every individual as well as nation state: don't be a dick.

People selling cars , who list spec incorrectly

Ie , searching for manual, and they list it as manual with an auto box!

Or the other putting NOT M3 in the title of their 320D advert. So it gets more views. Do they think if someones searching for an M3 and see's there 320D they are going to think, you know what that will do instead?

Reasonably honest politicians, reasonable policies acceptable to the majority of the population and an affinity for cuckoo clocks.

Traditional 'bricks and mortar' shopping - complete and utter waste of time! After the experience I had on Saturday, I won't be making any effort to support any local high streets or shopping malls ever again (unless it's just to use food outlets)!

On AT if you search for a car for , say, £6k the last 2 listings on a page will be for one at 3or 4 times the price. Why is that? If you're as poor as me you're not going to be tempted to spend 3 times your budget.

Yes, and list them for every individual make and model of car that ever existed. I used to have a saved search for parts for my classic car, now there's no point even searching because I'll get page after page after page of wiper blades and other tat listed as a specific part for my car.

You can tailor/restrict/limit your search (as with most internet search engine syntax) by preceding such unwanted items by - in the search string.

e.g. Humber Hawk -tat should only give results which do not contain tat.
It isn't perfect but can help smile

While it kind of works it doesn't work properly and is a fully justified annoyance because there are multiples and all with slightly different combinations. So you end up with something like this...

Humber Hawk -tat -moretat -tat2 -ta1 -tat3 -tattat -tet -taet -tatt -ttat -teat -tatevenmore -evenmoretat -lotsmoretat -evenlotsmoretat -ohmygodsomuchtat -whydoesthisturnuptat -wtfthisdoesn'tevenmentionhumberhawkbutstillshowsuptat -sparowhawk -"Sparrow Hawk" -"sparow hawk" -"SPARROW HAWK" -"CHESNEY HAWKES" -HAWKES -hawkes -chesney -sparrow -sparrows

BBC News again. Fiona Bruce is presenting from Downing Street, for no apparent reason. There's nothing to see, and she keeps telling us that nothing will be known until around 9pm. Well, stay in the studio then.
